Hacer el Taj, el Fuerte de Agra y Fatehpur Sikri en un solo día desde Delhi es posible, y es agotador. Repartido en dos días con una noche en Agra, se convierte en un viaje de verdad: el Taj tiene su amanecer, Fatehpur Sikri tiene la mañana que necesita, y nadie pasa catorce horas en el coche.

Primer día

Carretera por la Yamuna Expressway desde Delhi, unas tres horas y media. El Fuerte de Agra por la tarde, la fortaleza de arenisca roja de Akbar, de 1565, con los palacios de mármol que añadió Shah Jahan, y el Musamman Burj, donde Aurangzeb lo encerró ocho años, con el Taj a la vista río abajo.

Segundo día, amanecer

El Taj Mahal cuando abren las puertas, media hora antes del amanecer. Gris, luego rosa, luego blanco, y niebla sobre el Yamuna en invierno. Su guía le mostrará la caligrafía dimensionada para leerse de manera uniforme desde el suelo, las incrustaciones de pietra dura, los alminares inclinados hacia fuera para caer lejos de la tumba, y la única asimetría del cenotafio de Shah Jahan.

Fatehpur Sikri
