Dos cosas sobre esta visita. La hora, los últimos noventa minutos antes del cierre, cuando el mármol toma color y la gente se va aclarando en lugar de aumentar. Y el guía, autorizado por el Ministerio de Turismo y no una de las muchas personas que le ofrecerán el mismo servicio en la puerta.

El Taj al atardecer

La entrada reservada por adelantado le pone en el carril más corto. El control de seguridad pasa a todos de todos modos: sin trípodes, sin drones, sin comida, sin bolsas grandes.

Shah Jahan lo empezó en 1632, el año siguiente a la muerte de Mumtaz Mahal. Veintidós años, veinte mil obreros, y mármol blanco acarreado 400 km desde Makrana, en Rajastán.
