Waking up at 4:30am was tough but absolutley worth it for the sunrise at the Taj Mahal. We entered as soon as the gates opened and watched the sky turn from deep purple to orange to pink, and the marble changed colour with every minute. There were so few people at that hour that we had the reflecting pools almost to ourselves. After the Taj we went to Agra Fort which was equally impressive. Our guide called it the Royal Experience and it truly felt like one.
The sunrise Taj Mahal tour combined with Agra Fort was a once in a lifetime experience. The early morning light hitting the white marble creates colours you wont see at any other time of day. Pink, lavender, soft gold, it was constantly changing. Our guide was there with a flashlight to lead us through the dark gardens. At Agra Fort later, he showed us the exact window where Shah Jahan spent his last years gazing at the Taj. Incredibly moving and well organised private tour.
This private sunrise tour was the best thing we did in India. The Taj at sunrise is a completley different experience from later in the day. The marble has this ethereal glow and the gardens are misty and quiet. Our guide was waiting for us before dawn and had everything prepared including shoe covers and water. After spending 2 hours at the Taj we moved to Agra Fort where the morning light was also beautiful on the red sandstone. A royal experience indeed.
The sunrise at the Taj Mahal was stunning. Getting up at 4am wasnt easy but seeing the Taj emerge from the pre-dawn darkness as the sky lights up behind it was unreal. The guide was excellent and very punctual. Agra Fort afterward was a great addition, its massive and the views of the Taj from across the river are spectacular. Only giving 4 stars because I wish we had more time at the fort, we needed to rush a bit at the end.
Definately choose the sunrise option if you can. The Taj Mahal at dawn is magical, the silence and the soft light make it feel sacred. We were among the first visitors through the gate and had the famous bench photo spot to ourselves. The colours on the marble shift from soft blue to warm pink as the sun rises. Agra Fort was the perfect follow up, our guide showed us the Musamman Burj where Shah Jahan was kept under house arrest. An unforgettable morning.
