Partir d'Agra plutôt que de Delhi, c'est donner les heures aux bâtiments et non à l'autoroute. Quatre heures, c'est soutenu mais pas précipité pour ces deux sites, et les billets d'entrée sont inclus, donc rien ne se règle à l'entrée.
Taj Mahal
Votre guide vous emmène par l'approche de la Grande Porte, où le dôme apparaît encadré dans l'arche. Les jardins charbagh et le bassin. La plate-forme de marbre et l'intérieur du mausolée avec ses cénotaphes et ses écrans jali sculptés. La marqueterie pietra dura, la provenance des pierres semi-précieuses, et l'asymétrie volontaire du cénotaphe de Shah Jahan.
Fort d'Agra
À dix minutes. Des murailles de grès rouge avec des palais de marbre à l'intérieur : le Diwan-i-Am où l'empereur écoutait les requêtes publiques, le palais de Jahangir, et le Musamman Burj, la tour octogonale où Shah Jahan a passé ses huit dernières années emprisonné par son fils, avec le Taj visible de l'autre côté du fleuve.
Faites le Taj d'abord et le fort ensuite. La vue depuis le Burj signifie beaucoup plus quand on s'est déjà tenu à l'intérieur du bâtiment qu'elle regarde.
