Coupe-file
Sur les options avec billet, l'entrée est organisée à l'avance et vous allez au couloir plutôt qu'au guichet, ce qui en haute saison fait gagner près d'une heure.
Le contrôle de sécurité s'applique à tout le monde : pas de trépied, pas de drone, pas de nourriture, pas de grands sacs, pas de briquets. Casiers à la porte.
Taj Mahal
Shah Jahan l'a commencé en 1632, l'année suivant la mort de Mumtaz Mahal en donnant naissance à leur quatorzième enfant. Vingt mille ouvriers, vingt-deux ans, et du marbre blanc charrié sur 400 km depuis Makrana, au Rajasthan.
À quoi sert le guide : la calligraphie du grand arc, gravée en lettres de plus en plus grandes pour que, depuis le sol, chaque ligne se lise à la même hauteur, et signée, chose rare, par le calligraphe Amanat Khan ; les incrustations de pietra dura, où une seule fleur peut compter soixante morceaux de cornaline, de jaspe, de lapis et de jade ; les quatre minarets, chacun légèrement incliné vers l'extérieur pour qu'un séisme les fasse tomber loin du tombeau ; et l'illusion d'optique à la grande porte, où l'édifice semble rétrécir à mesure qu'on approche.
Et la seule asymétrie volontaire d'une composition symétrique au millimètre : le cénotaphe de Shah Jahan lui-même, placé hors de l'axe central par Aurangzeb.
Le fort d'Agra
Sur les options les plus complètes : la ville de grès rouge d'Akbar, 1565, avec les palais de marbre de Shah Jahan à l'intérieur, et le Musamman Burj, où Aurangzeb a retenu son père prisonnier huit ans, avec le Taj en vue le long du fleuve.

Fermé tous les vendredis. L'entrée pour les ressortissants étrangers est de 1,100 ₹, plus 200 ₹ pour la chambre du mausolée ; le fort d'Agra coûte 650 ₹.

The atmosphere was peaceful, and the history behind it made the experience very special. Our guide was kind and explained many interesting details, which helped us understand the place better.
