Une réservation courte et peu coûteuse qui règle les deux parties agaçantes d'une visite au Taj : le guichet, et le fait de se tenir devant le tombeau le plus célèbre du monde sans savoir ce qu'on regarde.

L'annonce porte à la fois le tarif indien et le tarif ressortissant étranger, ce qui mérite d'être noté : les Indiens paient une fraction du prix étranger, et les résidents ou titulaires d'une carte OCI devraient réserver la bonne option plutôt que de payer trop.

Le billet d'entrée à votre tarif, et un guide local agréé qui vous retrouve à la porte. Voiture et chauffeur sur l'option la plus complète.

Ce que personne ne peut éviter

La sécurité. Tout le monde est contrôlé et la liste des interdits est appliquée sans discussion : pas de trépied, pas de drone, pas de nourriture, pas de grands sacs, pas de briquets. Téléphones et petits appareils photo passent sans problème. Il y a des casiers à l'entrée.

À l'intérieur

Par le Darwaza-i-Rauza, la grande porte de grès rouge, où le Taj apparaît dans l'arc et, par choix délibéré, semble rétrécir à mesure qu'on avance vers lui.

Puis le charbagh, le jardin en quatre parties divisé par des canaux, avec le tombeau qui se reflète sur toute la longueur du bassin central.

Sur la plateforme : la calligraphie de l'arc principal, gravée en tailles croissantes pour se lire d'une hauteur égale depuis le sol ; les incrustations de pietra dura en cornaline, jaspe, lapis et jade, parfois soixante morceaux dans une seule fleur ; et les quatre minarets, très légèrement inclinés vers l'extérieur pour qu'un séisme les éloigne du tombeau.

Dans la chambre, le claustra sculpté et les deux cénotaphes, les vraies tombes étant scellées dans la crypte en dessous, et la seule asymétrie de toute la composition : le tombeau de Shah Jahan lui-même, placé hors du centre par son fils.

Taj Mahal bezoek met Faizan was prima geregeld. Het was aan het onweren en onze gids stelde voor om het een beetje uit te stellen voor een minder natte ervaring.
