Pourquoi l'agrément compte à Agra
Chaque porte de cette ville est travaillée par des hommes proposant de vous guider. La plupart ne sont pas agréés, certains sont très bons, et un bon nombre vous raconteront que l'empereur a fait couper les mains de ses artisans, une histoire sans fondement dans aucune source moghole, apparue pour la première fois au dix-neuvième siècle.
Un guide agréé par le gouvernement a réussi l'examen du ministère du Tourisme sur l'histoire, l'architecture et la réglementation, porte une licence avec photo, et peut être signalé s'il vous induit en erreur. C'est toute la valeur de cette réservation.
Les langues étrangères
C'est l'autre raison de réserver plutôt que d'engager quelqu'un à la porte. Les guides agréés sont certifiés dans des langues précises, le français, l'espagnol, l'allemand, l'italien, le japonais, le russe et d'autres sont tous disponibles à Agra, alors qu'à la porte vous ne trouverez que l'anglais et l'hindi.
La visite

D'abord le Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan l'a commencé en 1632, l'année suivant la mort de Mumtaz Mahal. Vingt-deux ans, vingt mille ouvriers, du marbre acheminé sur 400 km depuis Makrana, au Rajasthan.
La calligraphie gravée en lettres de plus en plus grandes pour se lire d'une hauteur égale depuis le sol, le calligraphe Amanat Khan étant le seul artisan à avoir signé son travail quelque part sur l'édifice. Les incrustations de pietra dura, jusqu'à soixante pierres dans une seule fleur. Les quatre minarets, inclinés vers l'extérieur pour qu'un séisme les fasse tomber loin du tombeau. Et la seule rupture de la symétrie : le cénotaphe de Shah Jahan lui-même, ajouté hors de l'axe par Aurangzeb.
Puis le fort d'Agra, et le Musamman Burj où a eu lieu cette captivité, avec le Taj en vue le long du fleuve.

Smooth communication on WhatsApp before my arrival. Riyaz was even tracking my train arrival. The historical part was well covered and very informative. He also helped when other people approached me to offer things. He help storage my computer (and book, weird, but one cannot enter with books) during my visit at Taj Mahal. He was always polite and caring, willing to customize my tour as much as possible to my interests and needs. And a big plus, he took amazing pictures from me.

My visit to the Taj was amazing. My guide Wahid was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He met me at my accommodation and walked over to the Taj and walked me back. As a solo female traveller this was great. He took amazing photos for me also which was a bonus. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Had a great time. The arrangements were spot on. Our guide Shahnawaz was excellent. His way of explaining things made interesting even for the kids. Explained things patiently and overall ensured we made good time and that we did not miss our train. He even took photos for us and showed great spots for taking photos!
