This heritage tour was a revelation. Instead of just the Taj, our guide took us to Akbar's Tomb at Sikandra which was stunning and practically empty of tourists. We visited the Chini Ka Rauza, a Persian-style tomb with gorgeous glazed tile work that most visitors never see. The Ram Bagh garden, said to be the oldest Mughal garden in India, was peaceful and beautiful. I felt like we discovered a whole different Agra that the regular tourists completley miss.
If you've already seen the Taj and want something different, this hidden gems tour is absolutley perfect. We visited Mariam's Tomb, the Jama Masjid, and several historic sites in the old city that I had never even heard of. The guide was a local historian who shared fascinating stories about each location. The Guru Ka Tal gurudwara was unexpectedly beautiful. This tour showed me that Agra has so much more to offer beyond its most famous monument.
Interesting tour for those who want to see beyond the obvious. The heritage sites we visited were genuinely less touristy, some we were the only visitors. The Chini Ka Rauza with its Persian blue tiles was beautiful though quite deteriorated. Akbar's Tomb at Sikandra was impressive with its unique multi-tiered design. The guide was passionate about Agra's lesser-known heritage. Only giving 4 stars as some of the sites were a bit run down and not well maintained.
This was exactly the kind of tour I was looking for. We had already seen the Taj Mahal the day before, so spending a morning exploring Agra's hidden heritage was perfect. The guide took us to places like the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah's lesser known sister tomb, old colonial-era churches, and a beautiful step-well that felt like a secret. He was clearly passionate about preserving Agra's heritage beyond the famous monuments. Definately reccomend for repeat visitors or history buffs.
