This was a great way to start our trip in Bangkok. I booked it for my mums birthday and she loved it. The cruise was punctual and the staff were friendly ( though most had limited English). The food was very nice and a good variety for everyone. Only downside for me is that it wasn't explained that drinks were not included in the price except for glass of water and tiny red drink (I didn't taste it) which was already on everyone's table when we boarded. so we had to pay extra which i don't think it's right. But I would recommend for sure

My only complaint was that the music was so loud the entire evening that you couldn’t sit and talk. My wife and I had to scream just to be heard. There was also no place to get away from the loud music. I suggest you turn the speakers off in the lowest deck so passengers have a quiet place to go if they choose.

The cruise includes a full Thai dinner buffet with live cooking stations, traditional Thai cultural performances, and a 2-hour cruise along the Chao Phraya River passing Bangkok's illuminated landmarks — Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, Rama VIII Bridge, and the riverside temples. Drinks are typically included (a welcome cocktail plus soft drinks) with premium alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Live traditional music accompanies the dinner service throughout the evening.
The show features traditional Thai classical dance (Khon and Ram Thai) in elaborate costumes with gold headdresses, live traditional Thai music, and sometimes a Muay Thai demonstration. The performances tell stories from Thai mythology and the Ramakien (Thai version of the Ramayana). Shows run approximately 45-60 minutes in segments between dinner courses. It's a beautiful introduction to Thai performing arts — far more authentic than hotel lobby shows.
The cruise typically departs at 7:00-7:30 PM and returns by 9:00-9:30 PM. Check-in and boarding begins 30 minutes before departure at the designated pier. The timing is perfect — you'll see Bangkok's riverside landmarks transition from sunset glow to full nighttime illumination during the cruise. For a daytime river experience, combine this with a morning longtail boat canal cruise for a completely different perspective of Bangkok's waterways.
The departure pier is typically at Asiatique The Riverfront or River City Pier, both easily accessible by BTS + ferry or taxi. The exact pier is confirmed after booking. Both piers have waiting areas, restrooms, and nearby restaurants if you arrive early. From Sukhumvit, take the BTS to Saphan Taksin and transfer to the free Asiatique shuttle boat. From Khao San Road, a taxi takes 20-30 minutes.
Smart casual is recommended — collared shirt or blouse, long pants or dress, and closed shoes. Most cruises don't allow shorts, flip-flops, or sleeveless tops for men. Women have more flexibility but beachwear is inappropriate. You're dining on a premium vessel with entertainment — think 'nice dinner out' attire. The boat is air-conditioned inside with an open-air upper deck, so bring a light jacket for the breeze on the river.
The dinner buffet offers above-average quality for a cruise experience — fresh seafood (prawns, fish, squid), Thai curries, stir-fries, noodle stations, tropical fruit, and Thai desserts. It's not Michelin-star dining, but it's genuinely tasty Thai food with variety. Live cooking stations ensure hot, fresh dishes throughout the cruise. The river views and cultural show elevate the experience far beyond just the food. If you're primarily a foodie, supplement with a daytime street food tour for authentic local flavors.
Yes — the buffet format naturally offers options for most diets. Vegetarian, halal, and seafood-free dishes are typically available. Vegan and severe allergy requirements should be communicated at least 48 hours before so the kitchen can prepare specific options. The buffet labels major allergens. For very strict dietary needs, eat beforehand and enjoy the cruise for the views and show — the experience is worth it regardless of the food.
Yes — children enjoy the boat ride, colorful cultural performances, and the excitement of dining on the river with Bangkok glowing around them. Children under 3 typically ride free; ages 3-11 receive a reduced rate. The performances are visually stunning and hold kids' attention. The boat has safety railings on all decks. For families, this is one of Bangkok's most memorable evening activities alongside the Muay Thai boxing experience.
The cruise operates rain or shine — the dining area and performance stage are under a covered deck. Only the upper observation deck is open-air. Light rain actually adds atmosphere with the city lights reflecting off the water. The cruise only cancels in extreme weather conditions (very rare), in which case a full refund or reschedule is offered. The dry season (November-February) has the lowest chance of rain and the most comfortable evening temperatures.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the cruise departure time. Late cancellations are non-refundable as your seat and dinner are pre-reserved. Date changes are possible with 48 hours' notice subject to availability. The cruise runs nightly except during special maintenance periods (extremely rare). Book 3-5 days ahead during peak season (December-January) as the sunset and dinner cruises are among Bangkok's most popular evening activities.
