Tuk-Tuk Street Food Tour
Savor the Flavor: Indulge in Non-Vegetarian Delights
Full description
Agra has its own food, and it is not the Taj
Four million people a year come here and eat at their hotel. The old town behind the monument has a food culture of its own — Mughlai from the imperial kitchens on one side, and the vegetarian cooking of the Braj country just north on the other.
Two and a half hours by tuk-tuk, which is the right vehicle: open, quick, and able to get down lanes a car cannot.
What you will eat
Bedai and jalebi — this is the Agra breakfast, and nowhere else does it quite this way. Bedai is a puffed, deep-fried bread stuffed with spiced lentil, eaten with a thin potato curry, and the jalebi is eaten alongside it rather than after. Salt and sugar in the same mouthful, at seven in the morning.
Petha, the city's famous sweet: ash gourd candied in sugar syrup, sold plain, dry, or soaked in rose or saffron. It is an acquired taste and the good stuff is nothing like the boxed version at the monument gates.
Dalmoth, the spiced fried lentil mixture Agra exports across India, and paratha off a tawa with white butter.
Chaat, kachori, and lassi in a clay kulhad.
On the non-vegetarian option: Mughlai kebabs and korma from the lanes where the recipes descend directly from the imperial kitchens.
The spice market
Sacks of turmeric, dried chilli, coriander and asafoetida, with the wholesale rates chalked on boards. Your guide will explain what each thing is for, which is more useful than it sounds when half of it is unfamiliar.
Three options
Guide and tuk-tuk; the full street food tour; or the non-vegetarian version.
Practical
If your stomach is new to India, say so — your guide will steer you to what is freshly fried and hot, which is the actual rule. Vegetarian throughout unless you pick otherwise.

If you are looking for a great guide and a safe places to eat - look no further, this is your tour and Amir is your guide! We wanted to try street food in Agra and he took us to the right place - a street next to bazaar ( I cant remember the name) where we were able to try different sweet and savoury delights. My personal favourites were the vege kebab and ice cream from buffalo milk. Amir knew the sellers (and sellers obviously knew him), so we did not wait long to try the food. Everything was really delicious. My only recommendation is to skip the dinner / go super hungry, so you can enjoy it fully and try more things. : )
I loved the food tour! I would definitely recommend it! Amir was very kind and explained all, and he made sure about the places where I should try it!!
We were able to have a taste of Agar with the help on Amir. Food was amazingly good and Amir is really helpful :)) Note that the tour includes marble and art shop after the food tour. The embroidery was amazing
Incredible tour! We tasted the best flavors of Agra’s street food. Amir an amazing and very funny person. If you come to Agra, this tour is a must!
Delicious food, awesome guide, great time. The communication for pick up was great and right on time. As we traveled, I was told information of the city, Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. And once at the food market I was told about all the different types of food and how they were made. I definitely suggest this tour!
From the start of this tour, they were very accommodating. My flight was delayed which meant I had to push back my tour time and they were happy to do so. Amir my guide was very knowledge on the entire tour. He also cared a lot about my safety as we walked the streets. Very friendly, calm, welcoming and funny. At the end of the tour I asked him for a dinner recommendation and he rerouting our Tuk Tuk to a restaurant called the Salt Bar. Amazing experience! 10/10 and would be recommending him to friends also.
Guide was great friendly service and very knowledgeable, food was incredible love Indian cuisine!
Our guide, Shubham, was utterly brilliant from start to finish. There was a slight confusion at the start as to which tour we’d booked (the Street Food Tour with Spice Market) versus a walking tour of the Old Town, but in the end he as able to combine the best of both and we were able to try some street foods (pani puri, chole bhatura, samosa with sauces, milk cake, lassi and much more) whilst walking through the Old Market and to Jama Masjid. We also visited a marble workshop (we we apprehensive about this, but it was so interesting and there was no hard-sell). Our guide was entertaining and informative and we had a brilliant afternoon. We traveled by tuk tuk and also tried our Agra’s new metro which was very clean and efficient to Londoners like us!
We were a family of 6, we loved trying the street food with our guide Amir and we said we didn’t want to go shopping so didn’t get taken to any shops. Well worth the trip
Great tour with Amir who made me feel safe and secure and thoughtfully showed me lots of fabulous Indian food!
The experience was really nice! We learned a lot about Indian food and Indian culture. Amir was an amazing guide, we highly recommend this activity when in Agra.
