What the ticket covers
The standard Taj Mahal entrance is ₹1,100 for foreign nationals. The additional ₹200 for the mausoleum is what lets you go up onto the marble platform and inside the tomb chamber, and it is the part people regret skipping. This ticket includes both.
What you see in under three hours
The Great Gate, where the dome appears framed in the archway and the whole composition reveals itself at once. The charbagh gardens and the reflecting pool. The marble platform and the mausoleum interior with the cenotaphs and the pierced jali screens.
And the walk round to the riverside terrace, which a surprising number of visitors never reach and which gives you the Yamuna side the building was originally designed to be approached from.

The Taj is closed every Friday. Gates otherwise open about 30 minutes before sunrise and close 30 minutes before sunset.
