The first hour, which is the one worth having.
There is a real difference between the Taj at 6am and the Taj at 11am, and it is not subtle. At opening the complex holds a few hundred people rather than several thousand, the marble is cool enough to stand on, and the stone shifts through grey, pink and finally white as the sun comes up behind the dome. By late morning it is a hot white building full of people.
This tour exists to get you there for the first of those.
How it runs
Pickup from your hotel in an air-conditioned car, timed to reach the gate before it opens. Skip-the-line entry so you are through ticketing and into the first batch. Your private guide takes you through the gate approach, the gardens, the platform and the interior at a pace that suits the light rather than a schedule, then back to your hotel.

Sunrise moves through the year, roughly 6:45 in late December and 5:15 in June, so pickup time shifts with the season. We confirm yours at booking.
Foreign-national entry is ₹1,100 plus ₹200 for the mausoleum platform.
From November to February, fog off the Yamuna can obscure the dome for the first hour. It usually clears by nine, and while it lasts it produces photographs you cannot get any other time of year.
Bring a layer. Agra before dawn in winter is properly cold, whatever the afternoon does.
