Traveler Reviews
We were already staying in Agra so this guided tour of the Taj Mahal was exactly what we needed. Our guide met us at the hotel and took us through the East Gate which had a shorter queue. His explanations about the Mughal architecture, the symmetry of the four minarets, and the love story behind the monument were facinating. He also pointed out how the calligraphy on the gateway gets progressively larger toward the top to create an optical illusion of uniform size. Excellent guide.
Perfect tour for those already in Agra. The guide picked us up from our hotel and had the tickets pre-arranged so we walked straight in. He showed us the best spots for photographs and explained things I never would have noticed, like how the Taj Mahal appears pink at sunrise, white during the day, and golden under moonlight. The pietra dura inlay work up close is absolutley stunning. He gave us plenty of free time to explore on our own too.
Booked this guided tour since we were already in Agra for two nights. The guide was very knowledgable about the history and architecture of the Taj Mahal. He explained how the precious stones in the marble were sourced from all over Asia. Good pace, not too rushed. I would have liked to also visit the mosque on the west side but he said it was closed for prayers that day. Overall a solid experience and good value.
Excellent Taj Mahal tour for people staying in Agra. The guide was at our hotel right on time and had water bottles and shoe covers ready. He took us through the main gate and the first view of the Taj framed by the gateway arch was breathtaking. He knew exactly where to stand for the classic reflection photo in the water channels. Inside the mausoleum he whispered the history of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal which was very moving. Reccomend this completely.
Already being in Agra meant we didnt need transport from Delhi, so this local guided tour was ideal. Our guide was passionate about the Taj Mahal and clearly loved sharing its history. He showed us the garden layout based on the Islamic concept of paradise, the four quadrants representing the four rivers of paradise. The semi-precious stone inlay work is so intricate you could spend hours just looking at the details. Well worth having a guide rather than wandering around alone.
