The cooking class was so much fun! We learned to make four different Thai dishes and went on a market tour. Everything was absolutely delicious and they easily made everything vegetarian for me. Highly recommend!!

This was a wonderful experience and was a great way to learn more about, create, and eat delicious Thai food. Our instructor, Cho, was the best. She was knowledgeable, funny and very nice. She guided us through the local market where we learned about all the key ingredients for our dishes. Overall it was a very unique and unforgettable experience and we are so happy we spent some of our time in Bangkok on this activity.

Cho was the most amazing host and instructor. She made me feel like an actual chef. All was in great humor and excitement of clean cooking. No salt and pepper for main flavors but wonderfully rich spices and unbelievable mixtures of vegetables made the for perfect Michelin meals that I cooked… my mind is still blown that I cooked the best Thai meals all by myself… I would recommend this class for all foodies.

This was the best class I've ever taken part in. The food was PHENOMENAL. Our guide was so energetic and a joy to be around. At the end, we got a cook book and chopsticks to take home.

Cho was a great instructor. Personable and a big character and she brought the whole thing alive. Was well organised with the market and clean up around while you eat your dishes, and then the little doggy bag at the end. Wasn't expecting something so well put together and probably the best activity I've done with this app overall.

I loved that we made one course at a time and ate it, before moving on to the next course, which meant the afternoon was well paced. We were also given a book with all the recipes and a QR code to access even more recipes. Free water was provided throughout. The guide was fantastic - personable, knowledgeable and with a good sense of humour. I am amazed at the quality of the food we produced, it was a very high standard. I took the Pad Thai back to the hotel with me so I had room for the mango s

The class with instructor Cho was an absolute delight. She made cooking Thai food feel both effortless and taste incredibly flavorful. Cho took the time to introduce each ingredient, provided clear recipe cards, and expertly guided us through techniques like using a wok and cooking with high heat. Her energy brought smiles to everyone in the group. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in learning the authentic flavors of Thai cuisine, including curry, Pad Thai, mango sti

Frequently Asked Questions

You'll prepare 3-4 dishes during the half-day session, typically a starter (like spring rolls or tom yum soup), a main course (pad thai or curry), a stir-fry, and a dessert (mango sticky rice). The chef demonstrates each technique before you replicate it at your own individual cooking station. You eat everything you make at the end — it's a generous meal. The Tingly school is known for its clear, patient instruction style.
The morning session (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM) includes a market visit where you shop for ingredients with the chef — highly recommended for food lovers and photographers. The afternoon session (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM) skips the market tour and goes straight to cooking. Both sessions teach the same number of dishes. Morning is more popular, so book early. The afternoon session works well if you've done a morning floating market trip.
Yes — free pickup and drop-off is included from central Bangkok hotels in the Sukhumvit, Silom, and Khao San Road areas. Pickup is approximately 30-45 minutes before class start time. If your hotel is outside the standard zone, the school will suggest a nearby meeting point (usually a BTS station). Drop-off takes you back to the same pickup location after the class.
Yes — vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free diets are fully supported with 24 hours' advance notice. The chef substitutes ingredients without compromising on authentic Thai flavor — tofu replaces meat, vegetable stock replaces fish sauce, and tamari replaces soy sauce for gluten-free. Nut and shellfish allergies require special attention as Thai cuisine uses both extensively. Communicate all restrictions clearly when booking.
Classes are limited to 8-14 participants to ensure personal attention. Each person gets their own cooking station with wok, burner, utensils, and ingredients. The chef circulates throughout the class to help individuals. The small size means you can ask questions freely and get hands-on corrections to your technique. For an even more intimate experience, the White Lotus cooking class offers smaller groups of 6-12.
None at all — the class is designed for absolute beginners. The chef breaks down every dish into simple, repeatable steps. You'll learn fundamental Thai cooking techniques like balancing sweet-sour-salty-spicy flavors, proper wok handling, and curry paste preparation. Even experienced home cooks learn new techniques. The goal is that you can confidently recreate these dishes in your own kitchen back home.
Every participant receives a recipe booklet with all dishes from the session, including measurements adapted for Western kitchens and substitute ingredient suggestions. You also take home the satisfaction of a delicious meal you cooked yourself! Some sessions include a small bag of Thai spices or curry paste as a bonus takeaway. The recipes use common ingredients you can find in most international supermarkets.
Extremely popular with couples — cooking together is a fun, interactive date experience in Bangkok. You'll have side-by-side cooking stations and can compare your dishes. Many couples book this as a morning activity and follow it with an afternoon at a rooftop bar or Mahanakhon SkyWalk. The relaxed, social atmosphere means you'll also meet other travelers. Private couple sessions are available on request.
The chef is flexible with spice levels and ingredients. If you don't eat certain things, alternatives are available. Chili can be reduced or omitted, and protein choices can be adjusted. Thai cuisine is naturally diverse — even within the standard menu, there's something for everyone. The chef explains every ingredient before adding it, so you always know what's in your food. This class actually converts many picky eaters into Thai food lovers!
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the class. Late cancellations are non-refundable as fresh ingredients are purchased that morning. Date changes are free with 48 hours' notice subject to availability. The class runs in all weather — the kitchen is fully covered. Maximum capacity is strictly enforced, so we recommend booking 2-3 days in advance during peak season (November-February).
