Viktor, Nok and Bong took a very good care of us during the trip. They well distributed the duties in between themselves so we avoid any chaotic situations. Nok helped me to localise the ATM which I found very helpful. Viktor stressed many interesting things about Thailand and outlined to schedule for the whole day. Great trip, great company. Well done!

Woody and Mariah were excellent guides! Mariah hotspotted me data so that I could add her on WhatsApp and download the pictures of the meeting points. For the train market, they told us which side to sit on for the shade, how to barter and how expensive some items should be. For the floating market, they pointed out Monitor Lizards, gave more info on how expensive certain things should be, and recommended different foods and places to eat. Woody was telling jokes and answering all questions we h

Maria and Woody we’re amazing. Other than the hot weather, everything was delightful.

Frequently Asked Questions

The tour departs from your Bangkok hotel at 6:00-6:30 AM to beat the crowds and the heat. The early start is essential — Damnoen Saduak floating market is most active and photogenic in the early morning before 10 AM. The drive takes approximately 90 minutes from central Bangkok. You'll return to Bangkok by 2:00-3:00 PM, leaving your evening free for a tuk-tuk Chinatown food tour.
The longtail boat ride through the floating market canals is included in your tour price. This is a private boat for your group — not a shared vessel. The ride lasts approximately 30-45 minutes and navigates through the narrow canals where vendors sell from wooden boats piled with tropical fruits, pad thai, coconut pancakes, and handmade souvenirs. Buying food and souvenirs from the boat vendors is at your own expense.
Maeklong (also called the 'umbrella pulldown market') is a market built directly on active railway tracks. Eight times daily, a train passes straight through the market and vendors calmly fold their awnings and pull back their produce — then reset everything within seconds after the train passes. It's one of the most jaw-dropping sights in Thailand. Your guide ensures you're positioned for the best photos and videos of the train passing.
Trains pass through Maeklong Railway Market at approximately 8:30 AM, 11:10 AM, 11:30 AM, and 2:30 PM (return trains at 6:20 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 3:30 PM). Your tour is timed to catch the most dramatic morning passage. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to get a good viewing position — the guide will find the best spot. The market operates daily but the train times are the highlight, so the schedule is carefully planned.
Expect light to moderate walking — about 2-3 km total across both markets on flat ground. At the floating market, much of the experience is from the boat. At Maeklong, you'll walk along the railway tracks through the market stalls. Wear comfortable shoes that can get slightly wet or muddy. The tour is suitable for all fitness levels including elderly travelers and children. Shaded areas are available at both markets.
Lunch is not included but you'll have ample opportunity to eat at both markets. The floating market has incredible boat-cooked pad thai, coconut ice cream, grilled prawns, and tropical fruit — all extremely affordable (30-100 THB per dish). Maeklong market has excellent Thai desserts and fresh seafood. Bring 300-500 THB in small notes for food and purchases. Your guide can recommend the best stalls at each market.
This tour combines both the floating market AND the railway market in a single trip, which is the most efficient way to see both since they're in the same region. The Damnoen Saduak and Maeklong Railway Market tour from another operator covers the same two destinations with a slightly different itinerary and guide style. Both are full-day excursions from Bangkok — choose based on group size preference and pricing.
Yes — children love this tour. The longtail boat ride is exciting, the floating market is colorful and full of treats, and watching the train roll through Maeklong market is unforgettable for kids. Life jackets are provided on the boat for all ages. The pace is relaxed enough for families. We recommend this as one of the top family activities from Bangkok alongside the ethical elephant sanctuary day trip.
Bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses — the floating market is mostly open-air and it gets hot by mid-morning. A small waterproof bag for your phone is smart on the boat. Wear lightweight, breathable clothing. Cash in small denominations (20 and 50 THB notes) is essential for buying from market vendors — they don't accept cards. A portable fan or cooling towel is helpful during Thailand's hot season (March-May).
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable as transport and boat are pre-arranged. Weather rarely affects this tour — the markets operate rain or shine, and the boat has a canopy cover. In the unlikely event of severe flooding, we'll reschedule at no extra cost or issue a full refund.
