Worth every single penny. Having a private yacht to ourselves (just me, my partner, and 2 friends) meant we could go at our own pace and skip the crowded spots. The captain took us to a snorkeling spot near Phi Phi that wasnt on any group tour itinerary, and the coral there was amazing. Maya Bay was stunning even with the visitor limits. The crew served fresh fruit and drinks throughout. Its a half day tour but honestly felt like we packed in more than the full day group tours do.

This was our anniversary treat and it did not disappoint. Having your own yacht with a private captain and guide is a completley different experience to a group tour. We could linger at Maya Bay, take our time snorkeling, and stop wherever we wanted. The yacht itself was beautiful and well maintained. Crew prepared a Thai seafood lunch on board that was restaurant quality. If your budget allows it, this is THE way to see Phi Phi Islands. No crowds, no rush, just paradise.

Booked this for a birthday celebration with 6 friends and it was the highlight of our trip. The yacht was spacious enough for all of us with a comfortable sunbathing deck. Arrived at Maya Bay just as the sun hit the cliffs perfectly, the water literally glows turquoise. Our captain knew all the secret spots away from the tourist boats. Snorkeled at Pileh Lagoon basically by ourselves while the group tours hadnt arrived yet. The flexibility of a private tour is priceless.

Splurged on the private yacht and mostly glad we did. The experience of cruising to Phi Phi on your own boat with cold drinks and good music is hard to beat. Maya Bay is genuinely stunning, photos dont capture how vivid the colours are. Snorkeling was excellent with the guide pointing out marine life. Half day felt a tiny bit short, we could have easily done a full day. But the crew was outstanding and the boat was immaculate. Would do it again with the full day option if available.

Frequently Asked Questions

The private Phi Phi Islands yacht cruise includes: exclusive use of a private yacht for your group (2–12 people), a professional captain and crew, visits to Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Bamboo Island, and Monkey Beach, full snorkelling equipment, fresh water, snacks, and drinks on board, hotel pickup and drop-off, and national park entrance fees. There are no shared passengers — the entire vessel is yours. The private format means itinerary timing, stop durations, and route sequencing can all be adjusted to your group's preferences.
The fundamental difference is exclusivity. On a group Phi Phi speedboat tour, you share a boat with 20–40 strangers and follow a fixed schedule. On the private Phi Phi yacht cruise, your group has the entire boat — you choose departure time, linger at Maya Bay as long as you wish, have the snorkelling sites to yourselves, and experience the islands at your own pace. Private also means the captain can access smaller, less-visited bays and coves that group tours never stop at. For couples, families, and groups of 4+, the private experience is dramatically superior.
The private Phi Phi yacht cruise operates on a premium sailing or motor yacht (typically 45–65 feet) with a spacious deck, shaded salon, and sun deck. The maximum capacity is 10–12 guests depending on the specific vessel assigned. Every charter is a genuine private experience — no strangers, no fixed group schedule. The yacht is fully equipped with life jackets, snorkelling gear, and safety equipment meeting Thai marine authority standards. Your captain has extensive local knowledge of Phi Phi's tides, currents, and the optimal timing for Maya Bay entry.
Absolutely — complete itinerary flexibility is the primary advantage of a private Phi Phi yacht charter. The standard route covers Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Bamboo Island, and Monkey Beach, but your captain can adjust timing, add extra stops at secluded coves (Loh Samah Bay, Viking Cave viewpoint, private beaches on Phi Phi Leh's eastern shore), or skip any location that doesn't interest you. If the group wants to spend 2 hours snorkelling at Bamboo Island rather than 45 minutes, that is entirely your choice. The yacht belongs to your group for the full duration.
Hotel pickup and drop-off is included from most major Phuket hotel zones: Patong Beach, Kata Beach, Karon Beach, Bang Tao, Surin, Rawai, and Phuket Town. Your private vehicle collects the group at the hotel lobby at the agreed time and transfers you to the yacht departure pier. After the cruise, the vehicle returns the group directly to your hotel. For guests in remote locations or on nearby islands (Phi Phi Don, Koh Yao), coordinate pickup logistics with the operator when booking — alternative meeting points can usually be arranged.
Yes — non-swimmers can comfortably participate in the private Phi Phi yacht cruise. Life jackets are always available and non-swimmers can float on the surface with mask and life jacket to see coral and fish without deep-water exposure. The deck-based experience — watching the limestone cliffs of Maya Bay, having lunch at anchor, and enjoying the sail — is genuinely spectacular regardless of swimming ability. The private format also means the crew can give individual attention to nervous swimmers or first-time snorkellers.
The optimal season is November through April when the Andaman Sea is at its calmest, snorkelling visibility reaches 20–30 metres, and the turquoise water colours are at their most vivid. December–February is peak season — the most consistently perfect conditions but book 3–5 days in advance for the private Phi Phi yacht cruise. March–April is excellent with slightly warmer water. May–October (monsoon) brings variable conditions — the outer sea can be rough, but experienced captains manage safe routes on calmer days. Always ask about current sea conditions when booking in monsoon months.
Fresh water, soft drinks, and light snacks (fruit, crackers, onboard provisions) are included in the private Phi Phi yacht cruise. Lunch varies by operator — some provide a full catered meal on board, others stop at a Phi Phi Don restaurant. Confirm the meal arrangement when booking. If you have dietary requirements, inform the operator in advance. You are welcome to bring your own drinks, wine, or preferred snacks on board. Most private charters have a small cooler on deck for personal beverages.
Essential: reef-safe mineral sunscreen (mandatory in national park waters), swimwear, GoPro or waterproof camera for underwater footage, and a light layer for the sea breeze. Optional: your own alcoholic drinks if desired (most charters allow BYO), a wide-angle lens for the cliffs, and motion sickness medication if prone (though yachts are generally smoother than speedboats). Leave behind: chemical sunscreen (coral-damaging, banned in national parks), drones without a permit, and large wheeled luggage — the marina has secure storage.
Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before the scheduled charter for a full refund. Private yacht charters require 48 hours notice rather than 24 hours because of the coordination involved in preparing the vessel and crew. In the event of Thai Marine Department weather advisories or officially unsafe conditions, the private Phi Phi yacht cruise is rescheduled to your next available date or fully refunded. The operator will notify you at least 12 hours before departure if conditions require rescheduling.
The value depends on your group size and priorities. For couples, the private Phi Phi yacht cruise is a premium romantic experience — genuinely unforgettable for honeymoons and anniversaries. For groups of 6+, the per-person cost approaches group tour pricing while delivering an incomparably better experience: your own schedule, longer stops, quieter bays, and no strangers. The group Phi Phi Islands speedboat tour remains excellent value for solo travellers and budget-conscious pairs. Both visit the same iconic locations — the difference is pace, privacy, and flexibility. Compare all options in our Phuket things to do guide.
Yes — a private yacht gives you the freedom to create multi-destination itineraries not available on any group tour. Popular combinations: Phi Phi Islands + Racha Islands (outstanding diving), Phi Phi + Khai Island (shallow snorkelling for kids), or Phi Phi + a secluded beach lunch on an uninhabited island. Your captain advises on feasible combinations based on distance and sea conditions. For even broader island exploration, our Phuket private yacht catamaran charter offers 7 different vessels including large catamarans for group island hopping. See our full Phuket island hopping guide for all destination options.
Pileh Lagoon is a natural enclosed lagoon on the eastern side of Phi Phi Leh island — vertical limestone cliffs surround a pool of luminous turquoise water that appears to glow from below. On the private Phi Phi yacht cruise, your captain can anchor inside the lagoon during quieter windows, giving your group the space to swim, snorkel, and photograph without the density of group tours. The private format means you can linger here — many guests consider Pileh Lagoon even more spectacular than Maya Bay. Learn more about the full Phi Phi Islands ecosystem in our dedicated guide.
During peak season (December–March), book the private Phi Phi yacht cruise at least 5–7 days in advance — premium vessels sell out quickly. During shoulder season (April–May, November) and monsoon (June–October), 2–3 days is usually sufficient. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible but limit vessel choice. For special occasions (birthdays, proposals, honeymoons), book 2+ weeks ahead to secure your preferred yacht. The booking confirmation includes your specific vessel details, captain name, and pickup logistics. If your Phuket dates are flexible, our Phuket travel guide 2026 helps identify the optimal timing.
A private Phi Phi cruise covers your marine and island bucket list — pair it with Phuket's land-based highlights on other days. Strong multi-day plan: Day 1Private Phi Phi yacht cruise, Day 2James Bond Island and Phang Nga Bay for karst scenery and cave canoeing (completely different to Phi Phi), Day 3 — Explore Phuket Old Town Sino-Portuguese architecture, visit the 45-metre Big Buddha, and see Wat Chalong temple. For travellers combining Phuket with other destinations, our Bangkok tours offer a contrasting city cultural experience. See our Phuket 1-day itinerary for time-limited planning.
