This cooking experience was absolutely amazing! I booked the morning session, from when I first arrived Serene was so warm and friendly. She showed me to a seat, explained today's class, gave me a glass of cold water and let me smell some of the things we were using. Once she had gone through what we would be doing we went to the local Thai market to get some of the ingredients for the dishes. She demonstrated how to prepare everything and was very patient. The whole experience was so personalis

Frequently Asked Questions

The Mango Thai Cooking Class is the school's brand name, known for its vibrant, fun approach to Thai cuisine. Mango sticky rice (Khao Niaow Ma Muang) is their signature dessert dish and a guaranteed part of every session. The name reflects their philosophy — making Thai cooking sweet, approachable, and memorable. The school is one of Bangkok's highest-rated cooking experiences and has taught thousands of international visitors.
You'll prepare 4-5 dishes from a selection that typically includes Pad Thai, Green Curry, Tom Yum Goong, Spring Rolls, and Mango Sticky Rice. Some sessions let you choose your menu from a wider list. Every dish is made completely from scratch — including pounding your own curry paste in a mortar and pestle. The class is comprehensive enough that you leave with genuine Thai cooking skills, not just tourist photos. Compare with the Tingly Thai half-day class for a slightly different format.
The Mango school is located in the Sukhumvit area, Bangkok's most convenient neighborhood for tourists. It's within walking distance of a BTS station, making it easily accessible from anywhere on the Skytrain line. The exact address and Google Maps pin are provided after booking confirmation. The Sukhumvit location means you can combine the class with shopping at Terminal 21 or afternoon drinks at a nearby rooftop bar like Mahanakhon SkyWalk.
Yes — the morning session begins with a guided tour of a local Thai fresh market where you learn about key ingredients: lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime, chili varieties, palm sugar, and Thai basil. Your chef explains how to select fresh produce and identify quality ingredients. The market tour lasts 30-40 minutes and is included in the price. The afternoon session skips the market and starts directly with cooking.
Classes have a maximum of 10-14 participants, each with their own individual cooking station. The intimate size ensures the chef can give personal attention, correct your technique, and answer questions. It's social enough to meet other travelers but small enough that you don't feel lost in a crowd. Private classes for couples, families, or groups can be arranged — contact us via WhatsApp for pricing.
Absolutely — the school handles vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and nut-free diets regularly. Notify us at least 24 hours before your session so the correct ingredients are prepared. Vegetarian versions use tofu and mushrooms; vegan omits all animal products; gluten-free uses tamari and rice-based ingredients. The chef is experienced in adapting recipes while maintaining authentic flavor. This is one of the most allergy-friendly cooking schools in Bangkok.
Pickup is included from hotels in central Bangkok (Sukhumvit, Silom, Sathorn, Khao San areas). The van collects you approximately 30-45 minutes before class time. Drop-off is also included after the class ends. For hotels outside the standard pickup zone, a convenient BTS meeting point will be suggested. The Sukhumvit location means most hotels are within a short transfer distance.
Every participant receives a printed recipe booklet with all dishes taught, complete with ingredient lists, measurements, and the chef's pro tips. The booklet includes Western supermarket substitutes for Thai ingredients that may be hard to find at home. You'll also leave with the muscle memory of proper wok technique, curry paste preparation, and Thai flavor balancing. Some sessions include a small gift of Thai spices.
Children ages 7 and up can fully participate in the cooking with supervision. The chef makes the class fun and engaging for younger participants. Wok cooking involves high heat, so adult supervision is required. Kids especially love making spring rolls and mango sticky rice. Younger children can watch and taste. This is a more hands-on alternative to a Bangkok food walking tour for families.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the class. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable as ingredients are freshly purchased each morning. Date changes are free with 48 hours' notice subject to availability. The class runs rain or shine in a fully covered kitchen. Peak season (November-February) fills up fast — book at least 3 days ahead. Maximum capacity is strictly maintained for quality.
