Your adventure begins after lunch with a pickup from your Phuket hotel. You'll head to the stunning Samet Nangshe Viewpoint, one of the most breathtaking panoramic lookouts in all of southern Thailand. From the top, sweeping views of Phang Nga Bay's limestone karsts rising from emerald waters stretch out in every direction — a photographer's dream.
From there, you'll make your way to a charming local fishing village pier where your private longtail boat awaits. As you glide into the bay, the first stop is the world-famous James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan), featured in the 1974 film 'The Man with the Golden Gun.' By arriving in the evening, you'll experience this iconic site without the usual crowds — just you, the towering karsts, and the sound of the sea.

Doing James Bond Island in the evening was the best decision of our whole Phuket trip. We practically had the place to ourselves while the limestone cliffs turned gold. But the plankton at Koh Hong genuinely made me gasp — every paddle lit up blue in the dark. Our guide was calm, funny and knew exactly where the glow would be strongest.
The private longtail made this feel special rather than a factory tour. Samet Nangshe viewpoint at sunset was unreal, and paddling through the cave arch at Koh Talu was so peaceful. Koh Panyee floating village on stilts was fascinating too. Worth every baht for the six of us. The plankton has to be seen to be believed.
We booked this for our anniversary and it delivered magic. Being at James Bond Island with almost nobody around felt like a secret. The boxed picnic was simple but fine, and the cold drinks kept coming. Kayaking among glowing plankton after dark was the most romantic thing we have ever done. Highly recommend the evening version over the day trips.
A beautiful and unusual experience overall. The empty viewpoint and quiet James Bond Island were highlights, and the guide was excellent. My only note is the drive out is around an hour and the day finishes quite late, so we were tired by drop-off. The plankton was a little faint the night we went due to the moon, but still lovely.
Fantastic private tour with our two kids, aged nine and twelve. The pace was relaxed and the canoeing was fully guided so nobody had to work hard. My children were absolutely mesmerised by the glowing water at Koh Hong. Pickup from our Kata hotel was smooth and on time. A memory the whole family will keep forever.
Skipping the daytime crowds is the whole point and it works brilliantly. Golden light over Phang Nga Bay, a private boat, and a guide who tailored the stops to us. Koh Panyee was more interesting than I expected. The bioluminescence at the end was surreal, like paddling through stars. Bring a light jacket, it gets breezy after sunset.
Genuinely one of the most unique things we did in Thailand. The longtail boat rides between the karsts at dusk were gorgeous and the sea cave at Koh Talu was so quiet and still. Our guide explained the plankton clearly and picked a dark spot for the best glow. The included park fees meant no surprise costs on the day.
A really memorable evening and I loved having James Bond Island crowd-free. Four stars only because the picnic box was on the small side, so eat well before pickup or pack snacks. That aside, the private longtail, the sunset viewpoint and especially the glowing plankton were worth it. Our guide was friendly and safety-conscious getting us in and out of the canoes.
