Der Blumenmarkt ist um acht Uhr vorbei

Deshalb sieht ihn fast kein Besucher. Jaipurs Phool Mandi läuft vor dem ersten Licht: Ringelblumen sackweise, Rosen, Jasmin und Tuberose, zu Girlanden für die Tempelopfer des Tages gebunden und an Verkäufer abgewogen, die ab sieben Uhr an ihren Ständen sein werden.

Es ist laut, schnell, vollkommen funktional, und die besten zwanzig Minuten der Stadt für einen Fotografen.

Die Altstadt in der Morgendämmerung

Danach die ummauerte Stadt beim Erwachen. Jai Singh II legte sie 1727 auf einem Neun-Felder-Raster mit festgelegten Straßenbreiten an, und um sechs Uhr morgens kann man den Plan tatsächlich sehen, kein Verkehr, keine Menschen, die rosa Mauern im ersten Licht.

Hawa Mahal wird zu dieser Stunde für etwa eine Stunde richtig pink, die einzige Zeit, zu der es so aussieht, wie es die Fotos versprechen, und niemand steht davor.

Ein Aussichtspunkt

Die Tour beinhaltet meist einen Grat oder ein Dach für den Sonnenaufgang selbst, mit dem ganzen Raster der Altstadt darunter und den Aravalli dahinter.

Weil es eine völlig andere Stadt ist als die, die Sie um elf Uhr sehen werden, und weil drei Stunden in der Morgendämmerung Sie nichts außer einem frühen Wecker kosten, Sie sind rechtzeitig zum Frühstück zurück im Hotel, mit dem Rest des Tages intakt.
