Detailed Itinerary

Morning Departure from Delhi Airport

Your royal journey begins bright and early at Delhi Airport, where you will be warmly welcomed by your local guide and chauffeured in a comfortable private vehicle. Settling in for the scenic four-hour drive along the smooth Jaipur Expressway, you'll watch the bustling urban landscape gradually give way to the vibrant rural heartlands of Rajasthan. This drive offers a glimpse into India’s diverse geography and the changing rhythms of life as you approach the Pink City. Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and have sunscreen handy, as you will be spending time outdoors exploring Jaipur’s historic sites.

Explore the Magnificent Amer Fort

Upon arrival in Jaipur, your first major destination is the majestic Amer Fort, perched atop a hill overlooking Maota Lake. Built in the late 16th century, this fort is a masterpiece of Rajput architecture, combining elements of Hindu and Mughal styles. As you wander through its ornate courtyards, intricate mirror work, and grand ramparts, your guide will share fascinating stories of the Rajput kings and queens who once ruled here. Don’t miss the Sheesh Mahal, or Mirror Palace, where thousands of tiny mirrors reflect light in dazzling patterns. The fort’s elevated position offers splendid panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, perfect for photography enthusiasts.

Discover the Splendor of City Palace

Next, you will head to the heart of Jaipur to visit the City Palace, the former royal residence that blends Rajput, Mughal, and European architectural influences. As you stroll through the palace complex, you’ll see grand courtyards, lush gardens, and intricately decorated halls that showcase the opulence of Jaipur’s royal heritage. Your guide will take you through the Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal, explaining the history of the Maharajas and the cultural significance of the artifacts displayed. This is also an excellent opportunity to appreciate the fine craftsmanship found in the palace’s textiles, paintings, and weaponry collections.

Savor Authentic Rajasthani Cuisine at Lunch

By midday, you’ll be ready to indulge in a delicious lunch at one of Jaipur’s well-loved local restaurants. Here, you’ll experience the rich flavors and vibrant spices of Rajasthani cuisine, sampling dishes like dal bati churma, gatte ki sabzi, and freshly baked missi roti. This meal offers a sensory journey into the culinary traditions of the region, prepared with fresh, local ingredients. Your guide will be happy to recommend favorites and explain the cultural importance of each dish, making this a truly immersive dining experience.

Optional Visit to Jantar Mantar and Unique Artisanal Stops

After lunch, you can opt to visit Jantar Mantar, Jaipur’s fascinating 18th-century astronomical observatory and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The massive stone instruments here were designed to measure time and celestial positions with incredible precision, reflecting the scientific ingenuity of the era. Alternatively, you can explore Jaipur’s artisan workshops specializing in block printing and stone cutting and polishing. Witnessing these traditional crafts firsthand offers you a rare insight into the skills passed down through generations, highlighting Jaipur’s reputation as a center for vibrant textiles and exquisite gemstones.

Return to Delhi with Lasting Memories

As the afternoon wanes, you will board your private vehicle for the comfortable drive back to Delhi. Use this time to reflect on the day’s rich experiences and the royal heritage you have uncovered. Your guide remains available to answer any final questions and ensure your transfer to your next destination is seamless. The 'royal' in the name is accurate. Premium sedan, bottled water and snacks provided, and a guide who clearly works with high end clients. The whole day felt luxurious but not pretentious. He took us to a heritage hotel for lunch which was an experience in itself. Amber Fort, City Palace, and Hawa Mahal were all covered with plenty of time at each. The best day trip money can buy from Delhi.

Splurged on this premium tour for our anniversary and no regrets. The car was a proper luxury sedan with leather seats and cold water waiting. Our guide was articulate and dressed smartly. He treated us like VIPs at every stop, knew shortcuts to avoid lines, and got us into a private section of City Palace that regular tours dont visit. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

Very nice premium day trip. The car and service were excellent, definitely a step above standard tours. The guide was professional and well informed. My only comment is that the drive is still 5 hours each way regardless of how fancy the car is, so manage your expectations about how much time you actually have in Jaipur. We covered 4 main sites which was enough.

If you can afford it, do the royal tour. We did a regular day trip last time and the difference is massive. The guide is more experienced, the car is better, and they take you to places that feel exclusive. Lunch was at a boutique hotel with a rooftop view of the city. The driver even had wifi in the car so we could upload photos on the drive back. Premium experience all the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Delhi to Jaipur royal private day tour is a premium one-day excursion from Delhi to Jaipur, covering the Pink City's essential royal heritage: Amber Fort (the magnificent 16th-century Rajput hill fort, UNESCO Heritage Site, with optional elephant ride), City Palace (the partial royal residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, with world-class royal collection museum), Jantar Mantar (the UNESCO-listed 18th-century astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II), and Hawa Mahal (the iconic 'Palace of Winds' with 953 windows, built 1799). An optional bazaar walk covers Jaipur's famous markets (block printing, blue pottery, kundan jewellery). All entry tickets, guide, and premium vehicle are included.
The drive from Delhi to Jaipur is approximately 270 km — approximately 4.5–5 hours each way via NH48 (the Delhi–Jaipur National Highway). For a same-day trip from Delhi, departure at 6:00–6:30 AM is recommended to arrive in Jaipur by approximately 11:00–11:30 AM for sightseeing. The return drive departs Jaipur at approximately 6:00–7:00 PM, arriving back in Delhi at approximately 10:30–11:30 PM. Total same-day road time: approximately 10 hours. This is a long but manageable one-day excursion in a comfortable luxury vehicle. Most travellers who make the same-day Delhi-Jaipur trip recommend the overnight option (staying in Jaipur) for a less exhausting experience.
The 'royal' designation refers to both the tour's content and its experience quality. Content: Jaipur is literally a royal city — the Maharajas of Jaipur still reside in City Palace (the public museum section is open to visitors while the royal family occupies the private quarters). Amber Fort was the royal residence of the Kachawa Rajput dynasty for 300 years. Jantar Mantar was a royal scientific project of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The entire city was designed by the Maharaja as a functioning royal capital in 1727. Quality: The 'royal' tour uses a premium vehicle (luxury sedan or SUV), senior specialist guide, priority entry where available, and a quality restaurant for lunch.
The traditional approach to Amber Fort was by elephant along the ramped pathway from the fort's base. However, this practice is increasingly discouraged due to animal welfare concerns (overworked elephants, abusive training methods) and Asia by Locals does not recommend or include elephant rides at Amber Fort. An alternative shared jeep service up the ramp (government-operated) or the walk up the ramped pathway (approximately 10 minutes) are the appropriate modes of access. From inside the fort, the views from the battlements over the Maota Lake and surrounding Aravalli hills are extraordinary and no elephant ride is needed to experience them.
Included: premium private vehicle (luxury sedan or SUV), experienced chauffeur, hotel pickup in Delhi and drop-off (Delhi hotel on return), Ministry of Tourism-licensed senior Jaipur guide, all entry tickets (Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal exterior), and sit-down lunch at a quality Jaipur restaurant. Amber Fort and City Palace entry fees for foreign nationals total approximately ₹1,200. Optional Nahargarh Fort (sunset views) can be added for the late afternoon. Not included: tips for guide and driver, personal shopping, or optional site additions.
An overnight stay in Jaipur is strongly recommended over a same-day trip if your schedule allows. The Delhi-Jaipur drive is 4.5–5 hours each way, meaning a same-day trip involves 9–10 hours of driving with only 4–5 hours of actual Jaipur sightseeing. An overnight stay: allows a more relaxed pace, covers more sites (Nahargarh Fort sunset, Jaipur markets, Abhaneri step-well), gives access to Jaipur's excellent dinner scene (Rajasthani thali, rooftop restaurants), and eliminates the exhaustion of the long return drive at night. Jaipur as an overnight destination is one of India's finest travel experiences and deserves more than a rushed day trip.
The City Palace of Jaipur is a partially functional royal residence — the Maharaja of Jaipur still lives in the private Chandra Mahal section, while the public Mubarak Mahal section houses the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, one of India's finest royal collections. Visitor highlights: the 'largest silver urns in the world' (used to carry Ganga river water to England for Maharaja Madho Singh II's coronation visit in 1901), an extraordinary royal textile collection (costumes of Maharajas including a 2-metre-tall Maharaja's robe), and royal weaponry. The Pritam Niwas Chowk courtyard has four peacock gates in exquisitely detailed polychrome work, a perfect photography subject. The City Palace combines 250 years of Jaipur royal history in one complex.
October to March is ideal for the Delhi-Jaipur day trip. Jaipur's desert climate means: pleasant October–February days (20–28°C), cold January nights (8–12°C), and clear dry winter air that makes Amber Fort's white marble and city views particularly vivid. March–April is warm but manageable. May–June is very hot (40–46°C) — avoid midday outdoor sightseeing; earlier starts are essential. July–September (monsoon): Jaipur and surrounding Rajasthan receive less rain than north India, and the Aravalli hills briefly turn green — an unusual perspective. Winter evenings in Jaipur are particularly atmospheric — the illuminated Hawa Mahal and City Palace are stunning, and a rooftop dinner is a perfect end to the day.
Yes — the NH48 Delhi-Jaipur highway has several well-maintained service plazas and rest stops along the 270 km route. The driver typically makes one planned stop approximately 2 hours into the journey (near Neemrana or Behror) at a clean, modern highway complex with restrooms, snack counters, and coffee chains. These plazas have been significantly upgraded in recent years and include brands like Haldiram's, McDonald's, and Café Coffee Day. The stop lasts 10–15 minutes — enough for a restroom break and a quick chai or coffee. Additional stops can be requested at any time. The Neemrana area also features the historic Neemrana Fort-Palace (visible from the highway) which can be a brief photo stop if desired. For a more in-depth Jaipur experience when you arrive, consider extending to include our Amber Fort official guided tour for the most comprehensive fort visit.
Yes — an overnight extension in Jaipur is strongly recommended and is the single best upgrade you can make to this tour. Converting from a same-day trip to an overnight stay transforms the experience: you gain a Nahargarh Fort sunset (Jaipur's most spectacular viewpoint), a Jaipur rooftop dinner (the city's evening food scene is exceptional), a relaxed morning the next day for a heritage walk through the Pink City bazaars, and the elimination of the exhausting late-night return drive. Jaipur has excellent heritage hotels ranging from ₹3,000–₹15,000 per night — many are converted havelis (traditional mansions) with courtyard dining and rooftop terraces. The guide can recommend and arrange accommodation based on your preferences and budget. A second day in Jaipur allows adding experiences like the elephant village tour or a cooking class that simply cannot fit in a single-day visit.
Yes, Delhi is generally safe for tourists, especially in popular tourist areas like Connaught Place, Chandni Chowk, and around major monuments. Booking a licensed local guide through AsiaByLocals adds an extra layer of safety and local knowledge.
The Delhi Metro is the fastest and most affordable way to travel between attractions. For tour experiences, our guides arrange private air-conditioned vehicles so you can cover Old Delhi and New Delhi comfortably in one day.
For popular sites like Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, and Red Fort, advance tickets are recommended to skip long queues. When you book a guided tour through AsiaByLocals, entry tickets and skip-the-line access are typically included.
Amber Fort is located 11 km from Jaipur city center, about a 20-minute drive. When you book a guided tour through AsiaByLocals, round-trip transportation from your hotel is included. You can also take an elephant or jeep ride up to the fort entrance.
Modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is recommended for temple visits. Comfortable walking shoes are essential as forts like Amber Fort and Nahargarh Fort involve significant walking on stone pathways. Carry sunscreen and water, especially during summer months.
Yes, all three can be covered in a full-day guided tour. Our Jaipur city tours are designed to cover these major attractions efficiently with an experienced local guide who knows the best routes and timing to avoid crowds.
