We took the full day with car and it was the smart choice. No haggling with drivers, tolls and parking all handled, and cold water waiting in the car after the Amer Fort climb. Our guide bought the monument tickets with us so we skipped the worst of the lines. Jantar Mantar suddenly made sense once he explained the instruments.

Genuinely good guide who knew every corner of the City Palace and found us great photo angles at Hawa Mahal. Only honest gripe is that Amer Fort was absolutely packed by the time we got there mid-morning, so I'd urge people to start earlier than we did. Precise, punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable about Rajput architecture, which is exactly what I wanted. The stepwell at Panna Meena ka Kund was a highlight I hadn't even heard of.
