Zuerst Hawa Mahal, und warum die Fenster der Punkt sind

Die Jharokhas, 953 davon über fünf Stockwerke, waren nicht zum hübsch Aussehen da. Sie waren dazu da, nach draußen zu schauen.

Das Gebäude wurde 1799 als Erweiterung des Zenana des City Palace errichtet, damit die Frauen des Hofes Straßenprozessionen und das tägliche Leben beobachten konnten, ohne von der Straße aus gesehen zu werden. Purdah machte die Straße für sie unsichtbar; dieses Gebäude gab sie ihnen zurück.

Das Gitterwerk funktioniert auch als Klimaanlage: kleine Öffnungen beschleunigen den Luftstrom und senken die Temperatur in den Gängen dahinter, daher der Name Palast der Winde. In einer Stadt, die 45°C erreicht, war das Ingenieurskunst statt Poesie.

Es ist zudem für den größten Teil seiner Höhe kaum einen Meter tief. Es gibt fast kein Gebäude hinter der Fassade.

City Palace

1729 von Jai Singh II im Zentrum der von ihm angelegten Stadt begonnen. Ein Teil davon ist noch immer die Residenz der königlichen Familie, die Flagge über dem Chandra Mahal zeigt an, ob sie anwesend sind.

Pritam Niwas Chowk hat vier Tore, jedes für eine Jahreszeit und eine hinduistische Gottheit; das Pfauentor ist jenes, das jeder fotografiert. Die Museen beherbergen königliche Kostüme, Waffen und Manuskripte, und der Diwan-i-Khas beherbergt die beiden Silberurnen, die größten Silberobjekte der Welt, hergestellt, damit Madho Singh II Ganges-Wasser nach England bringen konnte.

Jantar Mantar

Neunzehn gemauerte astronomische Instrumente aus den 1730er Jahren, UNESCO-gelistet. Die Samrat-Yantra-Sonnenuhr ist 27 Meter hoch, ihr Schatten bewegt sich sechs Zentimeter pro Minute, und sie zeigt noch immer die Ortszeit auf etwa zwei Sekunden genau an.

Another great tour by local guide Vivek with driver Manish! I'd booked the Jaipur street food tour with Vivek before, and he did such a good job I knew he was the best person to take me round the key Jaipur attractions. He customised the itinerary based on my interests which was perfect. He is very knowledgeable, being a Jaipur local, so he was able to tell me more about the history of each place as well as some fun facts which helped my understanding. Also a big bonus is he's a photographer, so he can give you some good tips for your photos. Having the car made it easier to travel around and see many places in one day. All in all a well organised, fun day. I'd highly recommend a tour with Vivek!

It was excellent tour with our guide who showed us important places in Jaipur and took us the the local restaurant. I enjoyed also pink city and the local crafts. Exploring a substantial portion of Jaipur in just one day couldn't have been better. Our guide, Raj, impressed us with his extensive knowledge, and our driver was both polite and attentive.
