Marwari-Pferde, und warum sie so aussehen

Die Rasse, die Sie wahrscheinlich reiten werden, ist Marwari, das Rajput-Kavalleriepferd, seit Jahrhunderten in dieser Region gezüchtet, und sofort erkennbar an Ohren, die sich nach innen krümmen, bis sich die Spitzen berühren.

Sie wurden für die Wüstenkriegsführung gezüchtet: robust, fähig mit sehr wenig Wasser zu arbeiten, und mit einem natürlichen Schrittgang namens Revaal, auf dem ein Reiter stundenlang sitzen kann, ohne durchgeschüttelt zu werden. Rajput-Überlieferungen beschreiben, wie sie sich weigerten, einen gestürzten Reiter zu verlassen.

Die Rasse starb nach der Unabhängigkeit fast aus, als die Kavallerie keinen Zweck mehr hatte und die Güter sie nicht füttern konnten. Sie überlebt, weil eine Handvoll Züchter in Rajasthan weitermachten.

Der Ritt

Aus der Stadt hinaus in die Ausläufer der Aravalli, durch Ackerland und kleine Dörfer, Hirsefelder, Khejri-Bäume, Wasser tragende Frauen, Kinder, die daneben herlaufen werden.

Dies ist wirklich ländliches Rajasthan zwanzig Minuten von einer UNESCO-Stadt entfernt, und auf einem Pferd erreichen Sie Teile, zu denen keine Straße führt.

Es gibt meist einen Teestopp in einem Dorf, und die Ökologie der Aravalli lohnt es sich zeigen zu lassen, dies ist eine der ältesten Gebirgsketten der Erde, weit älter als der Himalaya.

Erfahrungsstufe
