Jai Singh II legte Jaipur 1727 auf einem Neun-Felder-Raster an, mit festgelegten Straßenbreiten und jedem Handwerk ein eigener Block zugewiesen. Der gesamte Plan wurde zum Begehen gebaut, und ihn zu begehen ist die einzige Möglichkeit, den Plan sichtbar zu machen.

Vier Stunden, vollständig innerhalb der Altstadt.

Hawa Mahal

Wo der Spaziergang beginnt. 1799 von Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh erbaut, entworfen von Lal Chand Ustad, aus rotem und rosa Sandstein als Erweiterung des Zenana des City Palace.

953 Fenster über fünf Stockwerke, und für den größten Teil der Höhe weniger als einen Meter tief, es ist ein Sichtschutz statt ein Gebäude, gemacht, damit die Frauen des Hofes Straßenprozessionen beobachten konnten, ohne gesehen zu werden. Die Fassade soll Krishnas Krone ähneln.

Von der gegenüberliegenden Straße, im Morgenlicht, ist es das meistfotografierte Objekt in Rajasthan.

Das Raster
