Eine auf einem Raster gebaute Stadt fotografiert sich anders
Jai Singh II legte Jaipur 1727 auf einem Neun-Felder-Plan mit festgelegten Straßenbreiten an, und die folgende Architektur ist voller sich wiederholender Bögen, verspiegelter Fassaden und gestufter Geometrie. Deshalb fotografiert sie sich so, wie sie es tut.
Zehn Stunden mit einem Guide, der weiß, zu welcher Stunde jeder Ort funktioniert.
Patrika-Tor
Neun bemalte Bögen am Jawahar Circle, jede Oberfläche mit Wandmalereien aus Rajasthans Regionen bedeckt, in perfekter Perspektive zurückweichend. Der meistfotografierte Nicht-Fort-Ort der Stadt, und ab neun Uhr voll, also zuerst dorthin.
Panna Meena ka Kund
Der Stufenbrunnen aus dem 16. Jahrhundert unter Amber: sich kreuzende symmetrische Treppen, die acht Stockwerke zum Wasser hinabführen. Escher-Geometrie, und ruhig, da die Reisebusse ihn auslassen.
Hawa Mahal
Von der gegenüberliegenden Straße aus, morgens, wenn die Sonne auf der Fassade liegt. 953 Fenster über fünf Stockwerke, und kaum einen Meter tief, deshalb wirkt es wie ein Muster statt wie eine Masse. Es gibt ein Dachcafé gegenüber der Straße, das jeder Fotograf nutzt.
Amber Fort
Das Ganesh Pol-Tor, die Spiegelkammer des Sheesh Mahal, und die Innenhöfe, die den Grat über dem Maota-See hinaufsteigen. Früh, vor den Menschenmengen.
City Palace
Pritam Niwas Chowk, wo vier Tore jeweils eine Jahreszeit und eine Gottheit tragen. Das Pfauentor ist jenes, das jeder fotografiert, und es gibt meist eine Schlange von Leuten in passenden Outfits, die darauf warten.
Gaitor ki Chhatriyan
Die königlichen Kenotaphe aus geschnitztem weißem Marmor am Fuß des Nahargarh-Hügels, von fast niemandem fotografiert.
Und ein Grat zum Sonnenuntergang
Nahargarh, mit der ganzen ummauerten Stadt darunter, die orange wird, während die Lichter angehen.

Another fantastic tour with Vinod for our second day in Jaipur. We visited the Amber Fort, the Wind Palace and Patrika Gate on today’s tour. Vinod was brilliant at giving us hints and tips about how to best experience these sights. His driving is fantastic and his car is a lovely, comfortable, A/C blasting bubble to keep you comfortable as the heat rises! After discussing what we else we wanted to visit during our time in Jaipur, Vinod also arranged for us to visit a local artist workshop (Khajana Art), which had some beautiful paintings and the Sawai Jai Singh Cenotaph which was a beautiful, quiet monument away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thank you so much Vinod for being the best guide we could have asked for during our visit to Jaipur!
Knowledge 10/10 Comfort 10/10 Safety 10/10 During the trip we saw all of Jaipur and what’s on offer here… we were also warned about what to watch out for and how to avoid being scammed by unofficial tour guides. The route was built around what we wished to see and was totally customisable. Vinod was extremely friendly and he gave us a unique experience!
My guide Khalid very kind , friendly and knowledgeable. Patient and also a good photographer what is a big plus ! He shared a lot of info about Jaipur’s culture and history of Rajasthan . Saqlain took me to many beautiful places in Jaipur and made the whole experience really enjoyable. He also took lots of photos for me, and even in the hot weather, he was very considerate and checked on how I was feeling, which made the trip very comfortable.
