Una noche, y eso es lo que te consigue el safari del amanecer

El safari matutino de Ranthambore es el mejor turno, los felinos se mueven con la primera luz y se asientan a media mañana, y una excursión de un día desde Jaipur no puede alcanzarlo. Ese es el argumento completo para la pernoctación.

Día 1: Jaipur a Ranthambore

Un trayecto matutino de unos 180 km por el Rajastán rural, tres horas, llegando a tiempo para el safari de la tarde.

Día 2: safari al amanecer, luego regreso

El trayecto matutino, y luego el camino de vuelta.

El parque

Una reserva de caza de un maharajá antes de convertirse en parque nacional en 1980. 1.300 kilómetros cuadrados de bosque caducifolio seco, pastizales y cresta rocosa, con lagos que concentran la vida salvaje a medida que se profundiza la estación seca.

Unos setenta tigres viven aquí, y están inusualmente habituados a los vehículos, varias de las tigresas residentes han sido fotografiadas tantas veces que se las conoce por su nombre en toda la India.

Los avistamientos son cuestión de suerte. Dos safaris duplican aproximadamente las probabilidades, esa es toda la aritmética de un viaje de dos días.

Sambares de pie hasta el pecho en los lagos comiendo plantas acuáticas, chitales, nilgós, langures dejando caer fruta para los ciervos debajo, jabalíes salvajes, y cocodrilos de pantano varados en Padam Talao.

Excelente avifauna: águilas culebreras crestadas, cigüeñas pintadas, martines pescadores y migrantes invernales en el agua.

El fuerte de Ranthambore se alza dentro de la reserva sobre una cresta de 700 pies, siglo décimo, catalogado por la UNESCO, y aún un templo activo al que los peregrinos suben a pie por territorio de tigres.
