Canter o gypsy, y la diferencia es real
Ambos son vehículos abiertos y ambos van a las mismas zonas, pero no es la misma experiencia.
Un canter tiene unas veinte plazas. Es más económico, más ruidoso, y en un buen avistamiento estás mirando por encima de los teléfonos levantados de otras cuatro personas.
Un gypsy tiene seis plazas. Más silencioso, más maniobrable, y el conductor puede posicionarlo para ti en lugar de para el grupo. Para fotógrafos es la única opción real, y un gypsy privado es aún mejor.

El parque
1.300 kilómetros cuadrados de bosque caducifolio seco, pastizales y cresta, a unos 180 km de Jaipur, tres horas en cada sentido.
Unos setenta tigres viven aquí, y la reputación de Ranthambore se basa en que están inusualmente habituados a los vehículos. Varias de las tigresas residentes han sido fotografiadas tantas veces que se las conoce por su nombre en toda la India.
Los avistamientos siguen siendo cuestión de suerte. Nadie puede prometer uno.
Lo que verás con certeza
Sambares de pie hasta el pecho en los lagos, chitales, nilgós, langures, jabalíes salvajes, y cocodrilos de pantano en Padam Talao. Excelente avifauna, águilas culebreras crestadas, cigüeñas pintadas, martines pescadores, y migrantes invernales en el agua.
El fuerte de Ranthambore se alza dentro de la reserva sobre una cresta de 700 pies: siglo décimo, catalogado por la UNESCO, y aún un lugar de templo activo al que los peregrinos suben a pie, por territorio de tigres.
Tres opciones
Coche con un safari en canter al atardecer; un safari en jeep privado compartido con almuerzo; o un safari en jeep completamente privado.

Las zonas y permisos de safari los asigna el departamento forestal; nadie elige su zona.
El parque cierra del 1 de julio al 30 de septiembre. De octubre a abril es la temporada; marzo y abril ofrecen los mejores avistamientos a medida que se seca el agua.
Las mañanas de invierno en un vehículo abierto son realmente frías. Colores apagados, sin perfume, voces bajas.

I booked the tiger safari by canter through Maliq who i have to shout out is a great guy and excellent communicator which made the whole process hassle and more importantly stress free! He was very responsive and accommodating to my schedule which as an overseas tourist you know it can be daunting but thankfully it was a good experience with this trip, always taking care of my well-being with breaks as needed! The safari trip itself, I didn't manage to see any tigers but you have to understand you're in their territory and work to their schedule. still it is a great experience and you still get to see a variety of fauna such as croco files, deers, monkeys and birds that you kind of wander how they manage to coexist! as such you should go into the tour with experiencing the national park in all its glory, and if you get to see tigers that's a welcomed bonus! All in all I would definately recommend doing the safari tour and with maliq you can't go wrong!
Our driver Santosh was wonderful, our transport to and from the park was very easy and we had time to stop for a good lunch. Made for a very easy experience. If you can book ahead and get in the smaller gypsy car I recommend so you have a better chance of seeing the tigers close up!
The visit to the park is intense, at the end you see many animals in the wild which is the point of this tour, the guides lend all their energy to offer you the best view of the tigers, in my case I would have liked to see a little more other animals but I understand that the point is the tigers, if you don’t have much time in Jaipur as is my case it is the best option, Maliq, is from the area and is very clear what travellers need to see at least without leaving Jaipur. Highly recommended 😀

We had an amazing experience seeing a variety of animals—including tigers! Everything was fantastic, and there’s nothing we would change.
Maliq picked me up on time from the hotel and drove to Ranthambore, which was ~3.5h away. From there I hopped on a canter and we set off to the national park. We were in zone 3 of the park, which as I heard has a higher chance to see a tiger. And we were lucky to see two tigers that day! It was an amazing experience to see a tiger in its natural habitat. The safari ride itself was a bit short ~2-2.5 hours but was worth it, because we saw a tiger hunting for deers (without success though), which was incredible! On the way back to Jaipur we stopped for dinner at one of the restaurants by the road. Overall, it was a great and memorable adventure!

First of all: Manoj was a fantastic driver, ai fehlt very safe and comfortable during the long ride. Absolutely 5 stars. One star less because only the drive from Jaipur and back is private, the safari takes place together with 20-30 others in an open bus - and some other Busses and some jeeps at the same time. So if a tiger is spotted, all busses and jeeps will come together, which can be very disturbing and annoying, depending on people's behaviour. NEVER forget to bring a hat or cap and something to cover your mouth and nose, it is a very dusty place ...
I managed to see a tiger and the canter experience with our guide exceeded my expectations! My driver Bhupendra was very respectful, punctual, and knowledgeable, which added to the overall experience. would definitely reccomend!
