We enjoyed the handblock printing workshop & tour! It was very convenient that it included pickup & dropoff at our hotel in the city. In the first part of the tour, we loved learning about & participating in the various steps in handblock printing which has hundreds of years of history here in Jaipur, plus all the natural materials used for the beautiful colors. And we got to take home the sample we made. In the second part, we got to see examples in their shop of many designs of textiles & clothing all colored naturally & sewn by hand, with an option to browse & order any pieces (even custom made to your measurements with same-day delivery!).
We had a very enjoyable time printing a large square of cotton and some smaller samples. We were made very welcome. Upstairs at the carpet and textiles factory was an amazing fabric outlet where I was able to buy by the metre.
the handblock demo was lovely but it did feel more like a shopping trip as the emphasis was on purchasing items.
This was a very nice experience for family. The coordinator was very clear with communication before the event, contacted us quite early and was clear about pick up details around the driver. Despite it being Sunday and main factory being closed, they arranged for a similar experience. The instructor was soft spoken, patient and explained the process in detail. We had the opportunity to also learn from the expert craftsperson who was present. Since we were all comfortable with Hindi, we had a very smooth experience as the instructor switched frequently between English and Hindi. There is a showroom where they take you after the activity. However, it's really up to you if you want to buy. We bought quite a few things as we liked the quality.
