Un zoológico que es sobre todo un bosque

El Parque Biológico de Nahargarh cubre 720 hectáreas en la carretera Jaipur-Delhi, a doce kilómetros de la ciudad, dentro del santuario más amplio de Nahargarh. Es una instalación de rescate y conservación más que un zoológico tradicional, la mayoría de sus animales vinieron de circos, de lesiones, o de conflictos con pueblos, y los recintos son bosque de colina en lugar de jaulas.

Lo que hay aquí

Leones asiáticos, que existen en estado salvaje en exactamente un lugar de la Tierra, el bosque de Gir en Guyarat, y suman alrededor de 700. Los programas de cría en parques como este son la razón por la que existe una segunda canasta para esos huevos.

Tigres de Bengala, leopardos, hienas, lobos, osos perezosos, cocodrilos, chacales y varias especies de ciervos.

Las aves

Esta es la parte que la mayoría de los visitantes no espera. El santuario registra más de 285 especies, y Ram Sagar dentro del parque es un lugar conocido para la observación de aves, garzas, cigüeñas, martines pescadores, rapaces sobre el cielo, y migrantes durante el invierno.
