Dos paradas que casi todas las excursiones se saltan

El circuito estándar de Jaipur son cinco sitios y todo el mundo lo hace. Este añade Panna Meena ka Kund y Gaitor ki Chhatriyan, y por eso merece la pena leer más allá del título.

Panna Meena ka Kund es un pozo escalonado del siglo XVI por debajo del Fuerte Amber: escaleras simétricas que se cruzan bajando ocho plantas hacia el suelo, construidas para que la aldea llegara al agua en cualquier estación. Se fotografía como un dibujo de Escher y está casi siempre tranquilo, porque los autocares no paran ahí. No se puede bajar hasta el agua, y no conviene intentarlo.

Gaitor ki Chhatriyan es el lugar de cremación de los maharajás kachwaha, un jardín amurallado de cenotafios de mármol tallado al pie de la colina de Nahargarh. Jai Singh II, que fundó la ciudad y construyó el observatorio, está aquí. Muy pocos visitantes lo están.
