I booked this mainly because I wanted a female guide for the bazaars, and it made all the difference. Priya knew every good stall in Bapu Bazaar and did the bargaining for me so I never felt awkward. The Blue Pottery studio was a real highlight and I came home with two hand-painted bowls I adore. Pickup from my hotel was right on time.

Six hours flew by. We started at a carpet co-operative where they showed us the knotting and dyeing up close, then moved through the gemstone stores where our guide steered us to certified sellers only. No pressure to buy anything, which we appreciated. The private air-con car between stops was a lifesaver in the August heat.

A wonderfully personal day. Our guide asked what we cared about at the start and completely reshaped the route around textiles and block prints. We skipped the jewellery entirely and spent longer with the weavers instead. Genuinely felt like shopping with a knowledgeable friend rather than being herded around tourist shops.

Really enjoyable and our guide was excellent at pointing out fair prices. My only note is that the bazaars were extremely crowded and a few shop touts were persistent once they saw us with a guide. The Blue Pottery workshop and the carpet factory more than made up for it. Good value for a full private day.

My wife and I aren't big shoppers but this turned out to be our favourite day in Jaipur. Watching the artisans mix the natural dyes for the Blue Pottery was fascinating, and the camel-hair carpets were stunning even though we only bought a small runner. Our guide never once pushed us. Relaxed pace, easy on the legs, great for us in our sixties.

Lovely tour overall and our guide was warm and very knowledgeable about the weaving techniques. The carpet stop ran a little long for our taste so the last bit felt slightly rushed, but that's easy to fix by just telling your guide the pace you want. The hands-on pottery bit wasn't available the day we went, which was a small shame.
