Le trajet

Jaipur à Jodhpur fait environ 330 km, cinq heures sur une bonne autoroute à travers la brousse et les champs de millet du Rajasthan central.

Mehrangarh

La raison de venir. Il s'élève de 120 mètres directement depuis un affleurement rocheux au-dessus de la ville, avec des murs allant jusqu'à 36 mètres de haut, et il n'a jamais été pris, les impacts de boulets de canon sur la deuxième porte proviennent d'un siège de Jaipur qui a échoué.

À l'intérieur, le musée est le mieux géré du Rajasthan : palanquins, howdahs, peinture miniature, textiles, et les berceaux royaux. Les cours du palais, Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, sont superposées plutôt qu'étalées, car il n'y avait pas de place pour s'étaler.

Depuis les remparts, la ville bleue s'étend directement en dessous, et la couleur prend tout son sens vue de là-haut, d'une manière qu'elle n'a pas au niveau de la rue : le lavage à la chaux et au cuivre était un répulsif anti-termites qui s'est avéré avoir un aspect extraordinaire.

Le cénotaphe royal sous le fort, construit en 1899 avec des feuilles de marbre assez fines pour briller quand le soleil est derrière elles.

La vieille ville

Les ruelles autour de la tour de l'horloge et du Sardar Market, épices, textiles, et le meilleur mirchi bada et makhaniya lassi du Rajasthan.

Puis Udaipur

Encore 250 km au sud, quatre à cinq heures, arrivée en soirée.

Pratique

Quatorze heures porte à porte avec environ dix heures de route. C'est une longue journée, mais c'est tout de même moins de temps en voiture que de faire les deux trajets séparément.

Highly recommend as a way of seeing Jodhpur. It is a long day but highly worth it. Our guide round Jodhpur was excellent, allowing us to change the route and showed us the blue city and market. Additionally he took us to a lovely restaurant and helped us keep an eye on the time. Our driver was also amazing, allowing us to stop when needed and helped us safely get to Udaipur before it was too late in the day

It was a long day, but we knew that when we booked it. The person that picked us up at 5:30 am took us to Jodhpur and through all of our stops after we picked up a local guide. the Guide was knowledgeable and professional. They worked with us to make sure we saw what we wanted. When our tour was over, we we met up with another driver that brought us to Udaipur over the mountains. I was worried about the late night drive with a driver that had been up so long, and was relieved we had the second driver. I am happy with this tour as it let us see Jodhpur which we would not have had enough time for any other way.
