Pushkar, et une jeep dans les dunes derrière
150 km au sud-ouest de Jaipur, environ trois heures. La ville est l'attraction principale et le safari en jeep de l'option complète est la raison de choisir cette version plutôt qu'une simple excursion d'une journée.
Le lac et le temple
Les hindous pensent que le lac s'est formé là où Brahma a laissé tomber un lotus, et c'est le principal temple de Brahma au monde, il n'en existe peut-être qu'une douzaine, car Brahma n'est presque jamais vénéré directement.
Cinquante-deux ghats entourent l'eau, chacun construit par un souverain ou une famille noble différente, et les pèlerins s'y baignent à l'aube et au crépuscule.
Le temple de Brahma date du 14e siècle dans sa forme actuelle sur un site bien plus ancien, en haut d'un escalier de marbre. Les chaussures se retirent bien avant l'entrée ; le cuir reste dans la voiture.
Un avertissement qui vaut la peine : des hommes aux ghats proposeront une bénédiction du « passeport de Pushkar » puis exigeront un don important, parfois avec insistance. Un refus ferme et poli suffit.
Temple de Savitri
Sur la colline au-dessus, par un long escalier ou un téléphérique, avec tout le lac et la ville en dessous. Idéal à la dernière heure de lumière.
Le safari en jeep
Dans les dunes et le semi-désert autour de la ville, généralement en fin d'après-midi. Un petit désert de sable authentique, pas le vrai Thar qui est plus à l'ouest, avec des villages rajpoutes et bishnoïs, et des antilopes et gazelles autour des villages bishnoïs.
Les Bishnoïs méritent d'être connus : une secte fondée au 15e siècle sur vingt-neuf principes, dont plusieurs interdisent d'abattre des arbres verts ou de nuire aux animaux. En 1730, trois cent soixante-trois d'entre eux ont été tués en défendant un bosquet d'arbres khejri contre les haches d'un maharaja, raison pour laquelle la faune paît encore librement autour de leurs villages.

Ravi was een heel fijne gids die ons de hele dag van tips heeft voorzien. Niets was hem te veel. We hadden de all inclusive tour naar Pushkar geboekt. Nadat we Pushkar hadden bezocht hebben we nog bijna 1,5 uur op een kameel gereden. Geweldig! Ravi was er al om 07.00 uur en bracht ons om 22.00 uur terug naar het hotel. Het was een vriendelijke gids die ons veel heeft verteld. We voelden ons veilig bij hem in de auto. Mochten we ooit weer in Jaipur zijn dan willen we Ravi graag weer als gids.
Ayan picked us up from our hotel, drove us to Pushka, looked after us and our belongings in his car whilst we were taken around by a guide of who he sorted for us! Ayan also sorted our lunch at a lovely spot with amazing food before heading to ride some camels to watch the sunset. And after all of that, he drive us all the way right to the front of our hotel in Jaipur. He was brilliant, friendly and we highly recommend!
We had an amazing experience on our Pushkar tour! The driver Navratan was absolutely incredible extremely kind, professional, knowledgeable and attentive. He explained so many interesting things about the culture and places we visited, while also giving us the freedom to enjoy everything at our own pace. We had been dealing with some stomach issues during our trip, and he was incredibly thoughtful about it, always making sure we were careful with what we ate and that we were comfortable throughout the day. His kindness and genuine care went above and beyond what we expected. He truly made the experience special and was a 5-star professional from beginning to end. The tour manager (and owner of the company) was very kind and warned us about the possible scams that might happen to tourists in the place. The car was completely new and very clean.
