We spotted a tigress with two cubs near a waterhole about forty minutes into the afternoon drive and the whole canter went silent. Our naturalist read the alarm calls of the deer and knew exactly where to wait. The private car from Jaipur was comfortable and the driver stopped so we could photograph the Aravalli Hills. A long day but absolutely worth it.
Fantastic value once you realise the price covers everything: the entrance fee, the safari, fuel, tolls and a proper guide. No surprise charges at the gate like I'd feared. We got the open 6-seater Jeep which felt intimate and the tracks were bumpy in a fun way. Saw crocodiles, sambar deer and endless birds even though the tiger stayed hidden.
Hotel pickup was punctual and the three and a half hour drive passed quickly with views of villages and green fields. Our guide explained the park's conservation history and how the tiger numbers have recovered. The afternoon light in the forest was gorgeous for photos. Bring a zoom lens, my phone couldn't capture the leopard we glimpsed on a ridge.
A genuinely memorable safari and the naturalist was excellent, but be honest with yourself about the driving. Nearly eight hours in the car round trip for a single afternoon in the park is a lot, and we were tired by the time we got back to Jaipur. Loved seeing the sloth bear though, and the AC vehicle made the transfer bearable.
Did this in early December and the weather was perfect, cool enough for a light jacket in the open canter. Our driver collected us from the airport without any fuss. The park is stunning, all ruins and lakes and forest. We didn't see a tiger but two of us spotted a leopard which the guide said was rarer, so nobody was disappointed.
Booked this for my parents and myself and it worked well across three generations. No walking or climbing, just sit and watch, which suited my dad perfectly. The naturalist pointed out a family of langurs and a huge marsh crocodile basking. Water bottles were provided. My only tip is eat a good breakfast before pickup as food isn't included on the drive.
The tiger sighting was the trip of a lifetime and the guide truly knew his stuff. My only note is the March heat in the afternoon zone was fierce and the open canter offered little shade, so wear a hat and lots of sunscreen. The long drive back felt warm too. Still, seeing that tiger cross the trail made every dusty kilometre worth it.
Even in the pre-monsoon heat this delivered. Our naturalist explained that hot months push tigers to the water, and sure enough we watched one drinking for several minutes. The private transfer from our Jaipur hotel was smooth and the driver was patient with our photo stops. Everything from the entrance fee to the safari was already paid, which made the day stress-free.
