Jaipur at night, when the forts are lit and the heat has gone.
The city looks different after sunset. Hawa Mahal is floodlit and, for once, there is no crowd photographing it. Amer Fort and Nahargarh are lit along the ridge above the city. Jal Mahal sits in the middle of Man Sagar Lake with its reflection doubled. And the temperature has dropped ten degrees, which from March to September is not a small thing.
How it runs
Pickup from your hotel, then a circuit of the illuminated landmarks by car, ending with dinner. Roughly three hours.
Depending on your option, dinner might be at Chokhi Dhani, the Rajasthani village resort on the city's edge with folk dance, puppetry and a thali eaten sitting on the floor — touristy and fully aware of it, and genuinely good fun — or at a rooftop restaurant with the old city below.
