From Jaipur: Private Ranthambore Park Trip with Tiger Safari
Full description
Ranthambore in a day from Jaipur
180 km, about three hours each way, with an 8:30 am departure. It is a long day and it is the only way to see Ranthambore without a night away — though if you can spare one, staying over gets you a dawn safari, which is the better slot.
The park
1,300 square kilometres of dry deciduous forest, grassland and rocky ridge, with lakes that concentrate wildlife as the dry season deepens. Around seventy tigers live here.
What makes Ranthambore the best tiger park in north India is not the number but the behaviour: these animals are unusually habituated to vehicles, and several of the resident tigresses have been photographed so often they are known by name across India.
Sightings are still a matter of luck. Nobody can promise you a tiger and anybody who does is lying.
What is certain
Sambar standing in the lakes eating water plants, chital, nilgai, langur dropping fruit for the deer below them, wild boar, and marsh crocodiles hauled out at Padam Talao.
The birdlife is excellent — crested serpent eagles, painted storks, kingfishers, and in winter the migratory ducks on the lakes.
The fort
Ranthambore Fort stands inside the reserve on a 700-foot ridge, tenth century, UNESCO-listed and still a working temple site — pilgrims walk up to the Ganesh temple, through tiger country, on foot. It is visible from most of the safari zones and it is what makes this park look unlike any other.
Practical
Safari zones and permits are allocated by the forest department; nobody chooses their zone, including us. You will be in an open gypsy (six seats) or canter (twenty).
The park closes from 1 July to 30 September for the monsoon. October to April is the season, and March to April gives the best sightings as the water dries up.
Winter mornings in an open vehicle are cold. Muted colours, no perfume, and keep your voice down.

Traveler Reviews
I recently booked a Tiger Safari in Ranthambore through Raj Cabs, and it was an exceptional experience. The driver was punctual, friendly, and knowledgeable. The car was hygienic and comfortable, enhancing our journey. The safari itself was thrilling, with tiger sightings, thanks to our experienced guide. Raj Cabs provided a well-organized and memorable experience, making our trip truly enjoyable. Highly recommended!
