The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.

12:00 AM30min

Hawa mahal

The Hawa Mahal is one of Jaipur’s most iconic landmarks, built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. Known as the “Palace of Winds,” it features a unique five-story façade with 900+ small windows (jharokhas) designed to allow cool air to circulate, keeping the structure naturally ventilated. Constructed from pink sandstone, its intricate honeycomb design allowed royal women to observe street festivals and daily life without being seen. Today, it stands as a stunning example of Rajput architecture and a must-visit attraction in Jaipur.

1:00 AM1hr

City palace

The City Palace is a magnificent landmark in the heart of Jaipur, built in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. This grand complex beautifully blends Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, featuring courtyards, gardens, and ornate buildings. The palace still serves as a royal residence, while parts of it are open to visitors as museums displaying royal costumes, weapons, manuscripts, and artifacts. Highlights include the Mubarak Mahal, Chandra Mahal, and the beautifully decorated Peacock Gate. It offers a fascinating glimpse into Jaipur’s royal heritage and regal lifestyle.

2:00 AM1hr

Jantar Mantar

The Jantar Mantar is a remarkable 18th-century astronomical observatory in Jaipur, built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest and best-preserved observatories of its kind. The site features a collection of massive stone instruments designed to measure time, track celestial bodies, and observe astronomical movements with impressive accuracy. Its most famous structure, the Samrat Yantra, is the world’s largest stone sundial. Jantar Mantar stands as a testament to India’s advanced scientific knowledge and architectural ingenuity in ancient astronomy.

Detailed Itinerary

Comfortable Pickup and Introduction to Jaipur

Your day in Jaipur begins with a smooth and comfortable pickup from your hotel, airport, or railway station in a private air-conditioned car. You will meet your friendly local driver-guide, who will accompany you throughout the day, sharing fascinating stories and insights about the Pink City. The relaxed pace of this tour allows you to soak in the rich culture and history without feeling rushed. The drive from your starting point to the first stop takes approximately 30 minutes, giving you a chance to enjoy the vibrant cityscape as you approach the heart of Jaipur.

Explore the Majestic City Palace

Your first major stop is the magnificent City Palace, an architectural marvel that beautifully blends Mughal and traditional Rajasthani styles. This royal complex served as the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur and remains an emblem of Rajasthan’s regal past. As you walk through its elegant courtyards, sprawling gardens, and intricate galleries, you will encounter exquisite collections of royal costumes, ancient weaponry, and priceless artifacts. Each room tells a story of Jaipur’s royal heritage, from the opulent throne room to the serene private chambers. The ornate facades and detailed frescoes offer countless photo opportunities, immersing you in the grandeur of Rajputana royalty.

Discover the Wonders of Jantar Mantar

Next on your itinerary is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory that dates back to the early 18th century. This open-air museum houses a fascinating array of large-scale instruments designed to measure time, track the movement of planets, and predict eclipses with extraordinary precision. Your guide will explain the scientific genius behind these structures and how they were used by royal astronomers centuries ago. Walking among the giant sundials and celestial devices, you’ll gain a unique perspective on the blend of science and art that defines this remarkable monument.

Optional Local Experience and Cultural Immersion

If time permits, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a short scenic drive through Jaipur’s historic streets, soaking up the colorful atmosphere and vibrant street life. You may choose to stop at a local café or bustling market to sample authentic Rajasthani snacks or browse handmade crafts, giving you a taste of everyday life in the city. This optional experience is at your own expense but offers a wonderful chance to connect with Jaipur’s local culture in an intimate way. Your guide will happily recommend the best spots to explore based on your interests.

Convenient Return and Practical Tips for Your Visit

After a day filled with discovery and awe-inspiring sights, your private car will comfortably drop you off at your hotel or any preferred location within Jaipur. Throughout the tour, you’ll enjoy the convenience of a government-approved expert guide, entry tickets to the monuments (if selected), bottled mineral water, and all toll taxes and parking fees included.

To make the most of your experience, remember to carry a valid ID for entry and verification. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes, as you’ll be spending time on your feet exploring the sites. Lastly, dress modestly out of respect for local customs, especially when visiting heritage sites, and keep some cash handy for personal expenses or tips.

A brilliant first day in Jaipur. Our guide clearly loved the City Palace and pointed out details in the peacock gates I'd have completely walked past. The private car meant we never felt rushed, and having the entry tickets already sorted saved us standing in the ticket queues in the heat. Hawa Mahal from the rooftop café opposite was the highlight for photos.

Jantar Mantar completely surprised me. I expected a quick stop but our guide spent real time explaining how the giant sundial actually tells time to the second, and my teenage son was hooked. Pickup from our hotel was punctual and the AC car was spotless. Worth every rupee of the 201 dollars for a stress-free day.

We travelled with my mother who is in her seventies and this tour was perfect for her. Very little hard walking, the driver dropped us right at each entrance, and the cold water bottles were a lifesaver. City Palace has a few stairs but nothing difficult. The guide adjusted the pace to us the whole time.

Really solid tour and a knowledgeable guide, but be warned the area around Hawa Mahal gets crowded and there are persistent sellers on the street. Our stop there felt slightly rushed compared to City Palace. That said, having a private car and prepaid tickets made the whole thing easy, and Jantar Mantar was a genuine highlight.

Faultless organisation. We booked the night before and got confirmation with our guide's name within minutes. Six hours was exactly right for these three sites without feeling stretched. Our guide framed the Mughal and Rajasthani influences at the City Palace beautifully. January weather was ideal, cool enough to enjoy the open courtyards at Jantar Mantar.

Exactly the introduction to the Pink City we wanted. The guide tailored everything to what interested us and even added a quick photo stop at Jal Mahal on the way. Loved that tolls, parking and tickets were all included so there was zero fumbling for cash at each monument. Booking online was seamless.

Good value private tour with a friendly, well-informed guide. My only note is that late April in Jaipur is brutally hot, and by the time we reached the open sections of Jantar Mantar around midday it was hard to concentrate. Start early if you can. The air-conditioned car between stops was very welcome and City Palace was magnificent.

Second time using a private guide in Jaipur and this was the smoothest yet. Hotel pickup on the dot, an unhurried walk through City Palace, and clear commentary throughout. Hawa Mahal in the morning light was stunning. Having a government-approved guide made a real difference in how much history we actually took in.

Frequently Asked Questions

This tour focuses on three of Jaipur's most iconic sites: the grand City Palace with its royal courtyards and blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, the lattice-façade Hawa Mahal (the famous 'Palace of Winds'), and the UNESCO-listed Jantar Mantar astronomical observatory. The pace is relaxed enough to explore each properly with your guide over roughly six hours. If you'd rather add Amber Fort and more sites, consider the Jaipur City Highlights Tour with Amber Fort & Hawa Mahal.
Yes. The $201 Iconic Landmarks Tour includes entry tickets for City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar, so there are no surprise queues at the ticket counters. It also covers your private AC car, driver, a government-approved guide, all toll taxes and parking, plus a mineral water bottle. You won't need to pay anything extra on the ground for the covered monuments.
Yes, hotel or airport pick-up and drop-off are included in the price. Your driver will collect you directly from your accommodation in Jaipur at the agreed time, so there's no need to arrange separate transport or meet at a central point. Just share your hotel details when you book and confirm your preferred start time.
This is a fully private tour — the air-conditioned car, driver and guide are yours alone for the day. You set the pace, linger longer at Jantar Mantar's sundials if you like, or spend extra time photographing Hawa Mahal. If you're travelling as a bigger group and want a longer itinerary, the Private Full Day Sightseeing Tour By Car with Guide is a natural next step.
The walking is moderate and manageable for most fitness levels. City Palace and Jantar Mantar involve strolling around courtyards and open grounds, while Hawa Mahal is largely enjoyed from the street-facing plaza for photos. There are some stairs at City Palace, but nothing like the steep ramp climb at Amber Fort. With the private car ferrying you between sites, it suits older travellers and families well.
An early start, around 8:30–9:00 am, is ideal. You'll photograph Hawa Mahal in the soft morning light when its pink sandstone glows and the street is quieter, and you'll cover the outdoor sections of Jantar Mantar before the midday sun. Because it's a private tour, your start time is flexible — just confirm it when booking.
Jaipur can be genuinely hot from April to June, often exceeding 40°C, so light, breathable cotton clothing, a hat and sunglasses are strongly recommended. Your car is air-conditioned and a mineral water bottle is included, but bring extra water in summer. October to March is far more comfortable for sightseeing. Modest dress that covers shoulders and knees is respectful at the palace sites.
Absolutely — this is one of the most photogenic routes in Jaipur. Hawa Mahal's honeycomb façade is the classic postcard shot, best from the café rooftops opposite, while City Palace offers colourful gates and courtyards and Jantar Mantar's giant stone instruments are wonderfully geometric. Some interior sections at City Palace may carry a small camera fee or restrictions, which your guide will point out.
Yes, it works well for families. The private AC car keeps children cool and comfortable between stops, and Jantar Mantar in particular fascinates kids with its enormous sundials and astronomy instruments. The guide can pitch the storytelling to keep younger travellers engaged. If your children love animals too, you might pair it another day with the Jaipur Elephant Village Tour.
Yes. Your guide is a government-approved, expert local guide who brings Jaipur's royal history and architecture to life in fluent English. They tailor the commentary to your interests, whether that's the Mughal design details at City Palace or the science behind Jantar Mantar's instruments. If you want a guide-only booking without the car and monuments, the official Jaipur city guide option is a good alternative.
Meals are not included beyond the complimentary mineral water bottle, leaving you free to eat wherever you like. Your guide and driver can recommend an authentic Rajasthani restaurant along the way and wait while you dine. If food is a priority, many travellers combine sightseeing with the Heritage Walk & Street Food Tasting on a separate day.
Because the car and guide are private, you can often add a photo stop at spots like Jal Mahal (the water palace) or a drive-past of Albert Hall, subject to the six-hour window. If you specifically want Amber Fort's ramparts, Nahargarh Fort and a fuller day, we'd recommend the full-day sightseeing tour by car instead, which is built for that scope.
The six hours are split comfortably across the three landmarks plus travel time between them, which is short as they're all in the old walled city. Expect roughly the most time inside City Palace given its museum and courtyards, a focused photo-and-history stop at Hawa Mahal, and an unhurried exploration of Jantar Mantar. Your guide adjusts timings to your interests.
You can typically cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the tour's start time for a full refund; cancellations inside 24 hours are generally non-refundable. Because this is a private tour with a dedicated car and government-approved guide reserved for you, we appreciate as much notice as possible. Check the exact terms shown at checkout before you confirm.
Simply select your date and the $201 Iconic Landmarks Tour option and complete your booking online. Share your hotel name and preferred pickup time, and you'll receive a confirmation with your guide and driver details. We arrange everything in advance, so all you need to do on the day is be ready for pickup.
Yes — it's one of the best first-day itineraries in the Pink City, hitting three unmissable landmarks with an expert guide and zero logistical hassle. It gives you a strong overview of Jaipur's royal heritage and architecture. Many first-timers follow it with a shopping day at Johari and Bapu Bazaar via the Jaipur Craft & Shopping Experience to round out their trip.
