Jaipur Darshan: 2-Day Entry Pass for 7 Iconic Monuments

One ticket instead of seven queues

The Rajasthan government sells a composite pass for Jaipur's state-run monuments, and it is straightforwardly better value than buying them one at a time — provided you actually visit four or more of the seven. If you are only doing Amber Fort and Hawa Mahal, buy those separately and save your money.

What it covers

Amber Fort — the hilltop complex above Maota Lake, begun in 1592. The Ganesh Pol gateway, the Sheesh Mahal mirror chamber, and the zenana courtyard. Allow two to three hours; it is the largest thing on this list by a distance.

Hawa Mahal — the five-storey honeycomb screen of 953 windows. Most people photograph it from the street; the pass gets you inside and up, where the ramps replace staircases and the coloured glass throws light across the floor.

Jantar Mantar — UNESCO-listed, nineteen masonry astronomical instruments including the 27-metre Samrat Yantra, still accurate to about two seconds. Worth a guide, or at least the audio guide, because without one it is a field of shapes.

Albert Hall Museum — Rajasthan's oldest, Indo-Saracenic, with the Egyptian mummy and a strong craft collection.

Nahargarh Fort — the ridge fort north-west of the city, and the best sunset view of Jaipur there is.

Sisodia Rani Garden — terraced Mughal-style gardens built by Jai Singh II for a Udaipur queen, painted with Krishna murals.

Vidyadhar Garden — named for the architect who planned the city itself, and almost empty on most days.

How to use it

Valid for two consecutive days from first use. A sensible split is Amber Fort and Jaigarh on day one, the old-city sites and Albert Hall on day two, with Nahargarh at sunset on either.

Note that City Palace is not on this pass — it belongs to the royal family, not the state, and is ticketed separately.
