The practical full-day Jaipur tour. What it buys you over doing it yourself is the sequencing — Amer before the crowds, the city-centre sites in the middle of the day when they are shaded, and the ridge at sunset.
What you see
Amer Fort first, and first thing. Built from 1592, the Sheesh Mahal mirror chamber, the Ganesh Pol gateway, the water-cooled Sukh Niwas.
Panna Meena ka Kund five minutes below it, the eight-storey stepwell with criss-crossing symmetrical staircases and usually nobody in it.
Jal Mahal on Man Sagar Lake, a view stop rather than a visit.
City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal in the walled city, close enough together to walk between.
And Nahargarh on the ridge at the end of the day if the timing works, for the view over the whole city.
