Detailed Itinerary

Early Morning Departure from Delhi to Jaipur

Your unforgettable day begins bright and early with a 6:00 AM pickup from your hotel in Delhi or the NCR region. Relax in a comfortable air-conditioned sedan as you embark on a scenic 3.5-hour drive along the Yamuna Expressway. Watch the landscape transform from bustling urban centers to the peaceful countryside, dotted with fields and small villages. This drive offers a glimpse of rural India waking up, setting the tone for a culturally rich day ahead. Be sure to bring a camera to capture the changing scenery and carry some light snacks and water for the journey.

Explore the Majestic Amber Fort

Arriving in Jaipur mid-morning, your first stop is the magnificent Amber Fort, perched on a rugged hilltop overlooking Maota Lake. Built in the 16th century by Raja Man Singh I, this fort is a stunning example of Rajput architecture, blending Hindu and Mughal styles seamlessly. As you explore the sprawling courtyards, intricate mirror work in the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), and lush gardens, your guide will share fascinating stories about the fort’s history and the royal life that once flourished here.

You have the unique option to reach the fort entrance either by riding a decorated elephant or by jeep. The elephant ride offers an authentic, albeit slower, ascent, providing spectacular views and a taste of royal tradition. Wearing comfortable shoes is highly recommended, as you will be walking on uneven stone pathways and climbing stairs inside the fort. Don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.

Discover the City Palace and Iconic Hawa Mahal

After soaking in Amber Fort’s grandeur, your journey continues to the heart of Jaipur’s old city with a visit to the City Palace. This magnificent complex, still home to Jaipur’s royal family, houses several museums filled with royal costumes, historic weaponry, and exquisite artworks. As you wander through the courtyards and galleries, your guide will bring to life the stories of Jaipur’s Maharajas and their rich heritage.

Next, step outside for a short walk to the Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds. This five-story pink sandstone marvel was designed to allow royal women to observe street festivals unseen, through its 953 small windows called jharokhas. The unique façade makes for some of the most iconic photographs of Jaipur, so be sure to have your camera ready. The cool breeze that passes through the windows on hot days is a beautiful reminder of the palace’s thoughtful design.

Authentic Rajasthani Lunch and Scenic Jal Mahal Stop

By early afternoon, you’ll be ready to rest and refuel. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a local restaurant featuring authentic Rajasthani and Mughlai cuisine. Sample traditional dishes like dal bati churma, laal maas, and fragrant biryanis, paired with refreshing lassi or masala chai. This meal will give you a true taste of Rajasthan’s rich culinary heritage.

Post-lunch, take a brief stop at Jal Mahal, the “Water Palace,” gracefully situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. This picturesque structure appears to float on the water’s surface, framed by the Aravalli hills in the background. While you cannot enter the palace, the lakeside views offer fantastic photo opportunities and a moment of calm in the bustling city.

Evening Market Stroll and Return to Delhi

As the afternoon light softens, explore Jaipur’s vibrant bazaars, where the colorful chaos of Rajasthani markets bursts to life. Here you can browse exquisite handicrafts, traditional textiles, handmade jewelry, and souvenirs like blue pottery and block-printed fabrics. Your guide will help you discover the

We saw everything we hoped to in one day and never felt hurried. Our guide's stories about the mirror hall at Amber Fort completely changed how we looked at it. The private car was spotless and blissfully cool between stops. Getting picked up straight from our hotel made the whole day effortless. Worth every rupee for first-timers in Jaipur.

Hawa Mahal at nine in the morning with barely anyone around was the highlight for me. Our guide knew exactly which café to shoot the facade from and let us take our time. Jal Mahal shimmering on the lake was a bonus stop I didn't expect. Ten hours flew by and the driver was patient and friendly throughout.

A really good overview of Jaipur and our guide was knowledgeable and warm. My only honest note is the heat in late June was brutal, and the climb up to Amber Fort left us wilting by midday. The air-conditioned car saved us though. If you come this time of year, start as early as possible and bring plenty of water.

Excellent value for a fully private day. Entry tickets to all three monuments were already sorted so we walked straight in without any queueing. The City Palace courtyards were stunning and our guide explained the architecture in perfect English. He also steered us to an honest shop for blue pottery rather than the usual tourist traps. Highly recommend.

Travelled with my parents who are in their seventies and the private setup was ideal. We could rest in the car whenever needed and the guide slowed the pace at Amber Fort so nobody struggled. Lunch at the local restaurant was tasty and they happily arranged vegetarian dishes for us. A thoughtful, well-run day out.

Solid tour and a genuinely lovely guide who clearly loves his city. The stop at Jal Mahal felt a touch rushed and the bazaar had some persistent touts, but our guide handled them well. Amber Fort and the City Palace more than made up for it. Good introduction to the Pink City if you only have one day to spare.

Everything ran like clockwork from the on-time hotel pickup to the drop-off. Our guide had an endless supply of history and even pointed out details on the Hawa Mahal I'd never have noticed. The photo stops were perfectly timed for the light. I've done a lot of city tours and this was one of the smoothest and most personal.

Booking was simple and confirmation came through within minutes with the driver's number. We customised the day slightly to add Jantar Mantar and the guide happily rearranged the route. The private car meant we could linger at the City Palace as long as we liked. A relaxed, flexible way to experience Jaipur's highlights without any stress.

Frequently Asked Questions

This full-day tour packs in Jaipur's three signature monuments — the hilltop Amber Fort, the royal City Palace, and the honeycomb-fronted Hawa Mahal — plus a photo stop at the lakeside Jal Mahal. You'll also have time to wander Jaipur's colourful bazaars for handicrafts, textiles and jewellery. Ten hours is enough to see the headline sights at a relaxed pace without feeling rushed between stops.
Yes — the $350 Same Day Jaipur Sightseeing option includes entry tickets to Amber Fort, City Palace and Hawa Mahal, so there's nothing to queue up and pay for on the day. Note that a few interior sections of the City Palace (such as the private royal apartments) carry separate premium tickets that aren't part of the standard entry; your guide can arrange these on request if you'd like to add them.
Yes, the private air-conditioned vehicle collects you directly from your Jaipur hotel or guesthouse and returns you there at the end of the day. Simply share your hotel name and address when you book. If you're staying just outside the city or arriving by train, let us know in advance so the driver can plan the most efficient route.
This is a fully private tour — the air-conditioned vehicle, driver and guide are yours alone for the full 10 hours. You set the pace, linger longer where you like, and skip anything that doesn't interest you. If you'd prefer a shorter itinerary, the Jaipur City Highlights Tour with Amber Fort & Hawa Mahal is a good half-day alternative.
There's a fair amount of walking across the day, and Amber Fort has a steep cobbled ramp up to the main courtyard followed by staircases between the palace sections. It's manageable for most people at a gentle pace, and your driver drops you as close to the entrance as vehicles are allowed. Comfortable closed shoes make a big difference on the uneven stone.
Yes — because it's private and air-conditioned, the tour adapts well to families and older guests. You can rest in the vehicle between sights and take the monuments slowly. For anyone who finds the Amber Fort climb tiring, jeeps or a short walk-around route can reduce the effort, and your guide will keep the pace comfortable for everyone in your group.
October to March is the most pleasant season, with warm days and cool mornings ideal for the outdoor forts. Whatever the season, an early start is best — you'll reach Amber Fort before the midday heat and the largest tour crowds. The soft morning light is also perfect for photographing the pink sandstone of the old city and the reflection at Jal Mahal.
From April to June, Jaipur can climb past 40°C, so the air-conditioned vehicle is a genuine relief between stops. Wear light, breathable clothing, a hat and sunscreen, and carry water — your driver can restock bottles through the day. Since you'll enter temples and palace sections, modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is respectful and practical.
Absolutely — this tour is a photographer's favourite. The Hawa Mahal facade is best shot from the street-side cafés opposite in the morning, the City Palace courtyards frame beautifully, and Jal Mahal floating on the lake is one of Jaipur's most iconic images. If you love photography, you might also enjoy the Jaipur City Night Tour with Guide, when the monuments are lit up after dark.
A lunch stop at a good local restaurant is included where the package specifies it — please confirm at booking whether your rate covers the meal or is arranged separately. Either way, your guide knows reliable, hygienic spots serving authentic Rajasthani thali and North Indian dishes, and can point you to vegetarian, Jain or lighter options if you have dietary needs.
Yes — Jaipur is famous for gemstones, blue pottery, block-printed textiles and juttis, and you'll have time to browse the bazaars near the old city. Your guide can steer you toward fair-price, government-approved emporiums and away from pushy touts. If shopping is a priority, consider the dedicated Jaipur Craft & Shopping Experience with Blue Pottery and Textile Printing, which goes deeper into local crafts.
Yes. Because the vehicle and guide are private, you can add stops like Jantar Mantar, Nahargarh Fort or Albert Hall Museum, or spend longer somewhere you love. Just tell your guide at the start of the day. If you'd like a hands-on cultural add-on, many guests pair sightseeing with the Same Day Jaipur Tour with Cooking Class.
You get both — a professional English-speaking local guide who shares the history and stories behind each monument, plus a separate driver for the vehicle. The guide brings the Amber Fort and City Palace to life far beyond what a signboard can. If you'd prefer to book only an official government-approved guide separately, see the Book Official Tour Guide for Jaipur City Tour option.
Book directly online by selecting the Same Day Jaipur Sightseeing option at $350 and entering your date and hotel details. You'll receive a confirmation with your pickup time and the driver's contact information. We recommend booking a day or two ahead, especially in peak season (October to March), so we can secure your preferred guide and vehicle.
For most bookings you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund; cancellations inside 24 hours are generally non-refundable because the private guide and vehicle are reserved just for you. Exact terms are shown at checkout, so please review them before confirming — and reach out to us if your plans change and you need to reschedule instead.
Definitely. Many travellers do Jaipur sightseeing on one day and then add a longer excursion. Popular pairings include the Jaipur to Agra Taj Mahal day trip by car and the Ranthambore National Park Day Trip with Safari. Let us know your travel dates and we can help you sequence a smooth multi-day Rajasthan itinerary.
Amber Fort is located 11 km from Jaipur city center, about a 20-minute drive. When you book a guided tour through AsiaByLocals, round-trip transportation from your hotel is included. You can also take an elephant or jeep ride up to the fort entrance.
Modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is recommended for temple visits. Comfortable walking shoes are essential as forts like Amber Fort and Nahargarh Fort involve significant walking on stone pathways. Carry sunscreen and water, especially during summer months.
Yes, all three can be covered in a full-day guided tour. Our Jaipur city tours are designed to cover these major attractions efficiently with an experienced local guide who knows the best routes and timing to avoid crowds.
