How kimono rental works
You choose a kimono from racks sorted by colour and price band, staff dress you in about 20 minutes (the under-layers, the obi, the tabi socks and the sandals are all included), and you walk out for the day. Return is by late afternoon. Asakusa has dozens of shops within five minutes of Senso-ji, which is why most people rent there: the temple, Nakamise street and the Sumida riverside give you the backdrop without a train. Hair styling is a small add-on, and yukata, the light cotton summer version, replaces kimono from June to September. Men's rental exists at most shops.
