Combine the Phi Phi islands and Krabi's four islands on a fast catamaran, finishing with the sun setting behind the limestone karsts from the open deck.
Highlights
- Phi Phi and the four islands in a single day
- Fast, stable premium speed catamaran
- Snorkel two distinct reef systems
- Thai buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don
- Sunset over the karsts from the deck
Full description
This is the greedy option: both of Krabi's headline boat trips folded into one day, run on a premium speed catamaran that is quick enough to make the distance and stable enough that you are not braced against a seat the whole way.
The morning belongs to Phi Phi, with the crossing to Pileh Lagoon, the reef anchorages and a Thai buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don. Then the boat turns back towards Krabi and picks up the four islands in the afternoon, snorkelling off Chicken Island and swimming from Poda's white sand when most of the day boats have already gone home.
The final act is the reason to book this version rather than the morning one. The catamaran holds position off Phra Nang while the sun goes down behind the karsts, and you watch it from the netting or the sun deck with a drink in hand before the short run back to Ao Nang.
Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.

Phi Phi reef snorkel

Buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don

Four islands afternoon

Sunset and return
Watch the sun set off Phra Nang before cruising back to Ao Nang.
Detailed Itinerary
Pickup is a civilised 09:00 and the catamaran clears Ao Nang Pier around 10:00. The crossing to Phi Phi is quick, and by late morning you are inside Pileh Lagoon, swimming in water hemmed by cliffs on every side, followed by a proper hour at a reef anchorage with crew in the water alongside you.
The buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don runs from about 12:45 with time to swim or explore the village before the boat heads back east. From roughly 14:30 the afternoon is spent among Krabi's four islands, and because most morning tours have already finished, Chicken Island and Poda are noticeably quieter than they were at midday.
At around 17:00 the catamaran positions off Phra Nang for the sunset, holding there while the limestone turns orange, then makes the short run back to Ao Nang for the transfer to your hotel.

Traveler Reviews
Getting both Phi Phi and the four islands in one day is a lot, but the catamaran is fast enough to make it work. Watching the sun drop behind the karsts from the open deck on the way home was the best hour of the trip. Bring a jumper, it cools off quickly.
Nine hours and I did not once wish it was over. Pileh Lagoon in the morning, Tup Island sandbar in the afternoon, then sunset drinks on deck. The catamaran is stable enough to walk around on, unlike the speedboats going past us.
Really good combination tour, but it is a long day and by the last stop some people were flagging. Lunch was fine rather than memorable. The sunset over the limestone made up for both of those things.
The crew clearly enjoy the sunset leg as much as the guests, music on, everyone up on deck. Snorkelling earlier at Phi Phi was calm and the visibility was good. Excellent value for what is basically two tours.
Chicken Island silhouetted against the sunset is the photo everyone was chasing and we got it. Phra Nang and the sandbar earlier were both quieter than the morning boats. Well run and never felt overcrowded despite a full boat.
If you only have one day in Krabi this is the one to book. You cover the Phi Phi highlights, the four islands and a sunset. Just be ready for a nine hour day with a lot of sun exposure.
