Delhi um sechs Uhr morgens ist eine andere Stadt

Die Straßen sind ruhig, die Temperatur erträglich, und die Tempel tun das, wofür sie da sind, statt Besucher zu empfangen. Deshalb beginnt diese Tour früh, und das ist der ganze Grund, warum sie funktioniert.

Laxminarayan-Tempel (Birla Mandir)

Der erste Halt, für die Morgen-Aarti. Von der Familie Birla von 1933 bis 1939 erbaut und von Gandhi unter der Bedingung eingeweiht, dass Menschen jeder Kaste zugelassen würden, was 1939 eine Aussage war, keine Formalität.

Drei Stockwerke cremefarbener und ockerfarbener Sandstein im Nagara-Stil, Vishnu und Lakshmi gewidmet, mit Nebenschreinen für Shiva, Durga, Krishna, Hanuman und Ganesha.

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib

Der Sikh-Schrein mit der goldenen Kuppel, errichtet dort, wo der achte Guru während eines Pocken- und Cholera-Ausbruchs 1664 Kranke beherbergte. Das Wasser des Brunnens, aus dem er schöpfte, wurde zum Sarovar, dem Becken neben der Halle, und die Menschen nehmen es noch heute mit nach Hause.

Das Langar hier versorgt zehn- bis zwanzigtausend Menschen täglich kostenlos, gekocht von Freiwilligen. Man kann in die Küche gehen, und man sollte es tun.

Kopf bedeckt, Schals werden kostenlos am Eingang bereitgestellt, Schuhe aus, Füße beim Eintritt gewaschen.

Lotustempel

Das Bahá'í-Gotteshaus von 1986: neun Seiten, siebenundzwanzig Marmorblütenblätter, und völlige Stille im Inneren. Keine Predigten, keine Bilder, keine Rituale, jeder darf sitzen und beten oder auch nicht. Montags geschlossen.

Akshardham oder ISKCON, je nach Tag

Akshardham besteht aus rosa Sandstein und weißem Marmor ohne Baustahl; beachten Sie, dass keine Telefone, Kameras oder Taschen im Inneren erlaubt sind, mit Sicherheitskontrolle auf Flughafenniveau. ISKCON Delhi ist das Gegenteil: lauter, mitgestaltender Kirtan und kostenloses Prasadam.

I had a wonderful day with Vivek. A knowledgeable and very fun guide. Loved all the temples. Akshadham was my favourite Dharmendra is the best driver ever. Amazed how he managed the Delhi traffic with such confidence. I felt safe and well cared for by both of them.

Tour guide Pallavi greeted me at the Lotus Temple Driver Veeru drove me from my Aerocity Hotel. At the iskcon temple Pallavi explained the various aspects of the Hindu religion. We visited Shikh and Jain sites. Pallavi and Veeru streamlined the visitation of these sites.
