In fünf Jahren erbaut, ohne Stahl

Akshardham wurde 2005 in rosa Sandstein aus Rajasthan und italienischem Carrara-Marmor vollendet: 234 geschnitzte Säulen, 148 Steinelefanten, alle unterschiedlich, neun Kuppeln, und kein Baustahl oder Beton irgendwo im Hauptbauwerk.

Es wurde nach traditionellen Shilpa-Shastra-Methoden errichtet, Stein geschnitten, geschnitzt und gefügt, wie indische Tempel vor tausend Jahren gebaut wurden, von etwa siebentausend Handwerkern und einer sehr großen Zahl von Freiwilligen.

Ob moderne Tempel einen interessieren oder nicht, die Tatsache, dass dies im 21. Jahrhundert überhaupt versucht wurde, ist bemerkenswert.

Der Komplex

Der Mandir mit seinem geschnitzten Umgang. Der Gajendra Pith, ein Sockel aus dreitausend Tonnen Stein, der Elefantengeschichten aus der indischen Mythologie erzählt, Elefanten mit Heiligen, mit Königen, miteinander. Und der Narayan Sarovar, das Becken, umringt von 108 Messing-Kuhköpfen und gefüllt mit Wasser aus 151 heiligen Flüssen und Seen.

Die Wasser- und Lichtshow

Nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit am Yagnapurush Kund, dem größten Stufenbrunnen seiner Art, gebaut mit 2.870 Stufen um einen zentralen Lotus. Wasserfontänen, projiziertes Licht, Feuer und Musik erzählen eine Geschichte aus der Kena Upanishad über einen Jungen, der ins Feuer geht, um die Quelle des Lebens zu erfahren.

Fünfzehn Minuten, und das ist der Grund, abends zu kommen.

Vor der Abreise lesen

Die Sicherheitskontrolle hat Flughafenniveau, und die Verbotsliste ist strikt: keine Telefone, keine Kameras, keine Taschen, keine Elektronik, kein Essen. Am Eingang gibt es kostenlose Schließfächer, und die Warteschlange dafür ist der längste Teil des Besuchs, lassen Sie alles im Auto, wenn möglich.
