Siebenhundert Töpferfamilien, mitten in Delhi

Kumhar Gram liegt im Westen von Delhi, nahe Uttam Nagar, und ist genau das, wonach es klingt: ein Töpferdorf innerhalb einer Stadt von zwanzig Millionen Menschen. Die Familien kamen vor etwa sechzig Jahren aus Rajasthan und Uttar Pradesh, und sie drehen seitdem Töpfe in denselben Gassen.

Jede Fläche ist trocknende Töpferware. Sie stapelt sich auf Dächern, entlang von Wänden, mitten in den Gassen, und es ist eine der wenigen wirklich unvermittelten Dinge, die ein Besucher in Delhi sehen kann, niemand hat dies gebaut, damit man es betrachtet.
