Das Fort selbst
Shah Jahan begann es 1639 als Palastfestung seiner neuen Hauptstadt Shahjahanabad. Zwei Kilometer Mauer aus rotem Sandstein, und Sitz der Mogulmacht bis 1857. Innen: das Lahori-Tor und der überdachte Basar Chatta Chowk, der Diwan-i-Am, wo der Kaiser öffentliche Bitten hörte, der Diwan-i-Khas, in dem einst der Pfauenthron stand, und die Marmorpavillons an der Flussseite.
