Krishnas Land, und abends zurück

Mathura liegt 180 km südlich von Delhi, Vrindavan weitere 11 km entfernt, und zusammen gehören sie zu den meistbesuchten Pilgerstädten Indiens. Eine Abholung um 6 Uhr bringt Sie gegen neun hin und am Abend zurück.

Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi

Hindus halten daran fest, dass Krishna hier geboren wurde, in einer Zelle, in der seine Eltern von König Kansa festgehalten wurden. Die Zelle liegt unter dem heutigen Tempelkomplex.

Die Sicherheitskontrolle ist die strengste, die Sie in Indien erleben werden: keine Handys, keine Kameras, keine Taschen, in manchen Schlangen auch keine Gürtel. Lassen Sie alles im Auto, es gibt keine Gepäckaufbewahrung, der man trauen kann, und am Tor zu diskutieren bringt nichts.

Der Dwarkadhish-Tempel

Mathuras wichtigster genutzter Tempel, 1814 erbaut, mit gemalten Decken und in der Festzeit geschaukelten Gottheiten. Voll, laut, und der beste Ort, um gelebte Praxis statt Pilgerströme zu sehen.

Vishram Ghat

Die Stufen hinunter zur Yamuna, wo Krishna sich nach der Tötung Kansas ausgeruht haben soll. Schildkröten im Wasser, Lampen in der Dämmerung, und die Aarti, die hier jeden Abend stattfindet.

Vrindavan

Wo Krishna aufgewachsen sein soll, eine Stadt mit mehreren Tausend Tempeln.

Banke Bihari ist der, der den Gläubigen am meisten bedeutet: aus den 1860er Jahren, dicht gefüllt, mit einem Vorhang, der alle paar Minuten vor die Gottheit gezogen wird, damit niemand ihren Blick zu lange hält. Während Janmashtami ist das Gedränge ernst, sonst ist es einfach lebhaft.

Der Krishna-Balaram-Tempel der ISKCON und der Marmor-Prem Mandir, nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit farbig beleuchtet, sind je nach Zeit meist mit dabei.

Beide Städte sind streng vegetarisch und alkoholfrei. An jedem Tempel werden die Schuhe ausgezogen, und der Stein ist ab April heiß, nehmen Sie Socken mit. Die Affen in Vrindavan nehmen Brillen und Handys, wirklich und häufig.
