Zwei der ältesten spezialisierten Märkte Asiens liegen vierhundert Meter voneinander entfernt in Alt-Delhi, und dieser Spaziergang führt mit einer lokalen Führerin durch beide, was das Erlebnis dieser Gassen erheblich verändert.

Khari Baoli

Der größte Gewürzmarkt Asiens, seit den 1600er Jahren handelnd in einer Straße, kaum breit genug für einen Handwagen.

Säcke mit Kurkuma, Koriander, Kardamom, getrockneten Chilis, schwarzem Pfeffer und Asant, drei Meter hoch gestapelt, mit den Großhandelspreisen auf Tafeln geschrieben. Jedes Geschäft in Nordindien kauft hier ein, was bedeutet, dass die Preise, die Sie sehen, die echten sind.

Die getrockneten Chili-Abschnitte lassen Sie husten. Alle husten; die Händler finden das lustig.
