Dies ist eine zweitägige Kombination aus Vögeln und Tempeln am östlichen Stadtrand, und sie eignet sich für einen zweiten oder dritten Delhi-Besuch statt für den ersten.

Das Okhla-Vogelschutzgebiet

Vier Quadratkilometer Feuchtgebiet, wo die Yamuna nach Noida eintritt, und einer der besten Orte zur Vogelbeobachtung in der Hauptstadtregion, über dreihundert erfasste Arten, etwa die Hälfte davon Zugvögel.

Der Winter ist die Saison. Nimmersatt-Störche nisten in lauten Kolonien, weiße Ibisse, Fleckschnabelenten, Löffelenten, Streifengänse, die den Himalaya überqueren, um hierher zu kommen, und in manchen Jahren Rosaflamingos. Der frühe Morgen ist die Stunde; gegen elf wird das Licht flach, und die Vögel haben sich niedergelassen.

Es gibt einen Weg entlang des Wehrs und ein Boot, wenn Wasser und Saison es erlauben.

ISKCON Noida

Der Hare-Krishna-Tempel, mit einer Nachmittags-Aarti, Gesang, Trommeln und Kirtan, bei der Besucher willkommen sind, zuzusehen oder mitzumachen. Das Prasadam danach ist kostenlos und großzügig.

Es ist eine moderne, laute, mitgestaltende Form der Verehrung, und sie bildet einen nützlichen Kontrast zur Stille der älteren Denkmäler Delhis.

Akshardham

Am zweiten Tag, der größte hinduistische Tempelkomplex seiner Art, 2005 fertiggestellt, aus rosa Sandstein aus Rajasthan und italienischem Carrara-Marmor, mit 234 geschnitzten Säulen, 148 Steinelefanten, und keinem Stahl oder Beton im Hauptbauwerk, errichtet nach traditionellen Shilpa-Methoden.

Die abendliche musikalische Fontänenshow läuft auf dem Platz des Stufenbrunnens nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit, und die Bootsfahrt durch eine Nachbildung von zehntausend Jahren indischer Geschichte ist je nach Temperament entweder charmant oder seltsam.

Vor der Abreise lesen: Telefone, Kameras, Taschen, Gürtel und alles Elektronische sind im Inneren verboten, ohne Ausnahme, mit Sicherheitskontrolle auf Flughafenniveau. Es gibt kostenlose Schließfächer am Tor. Montags geschlossen.
