Ihr Reiseführer trifft Sie am Tor Nr. 1 der U-Bahn-Station „Jama Masjid Metro Station". Nach einer kurzen Einführung in das bevorstehende Abenteuer beginnen wir zu spazieren und die 400 Jahre alte lebendige Stadt namens „Alt-Delhi" zu entdecken.
Der Spaziergang beginnt inmitten des historischen „Meena Bazaar", einst ein prächtiger Markt für Edelsteine zur Zeit des damaligen Mogulreichs, heute jedoch ein improvisierter Markt für die einfachsten Bevölkerungsschichten, wo Händler sehr preiswerte Waren für die breite Masse anbieten.
Bald sehen wir imposante Steinstufen, die zur „Jama-Moschee" hinaufführen, die als größte Moschee Indiens gilt, erbaut von demselben Kaiser, der auch das „Taj Mahal" errichtete: Shah Jahan.
Hinweis: Der Besuch der Moschee ist rein optional, nicht verpflichtend. Der Eintrittspreis für die „Jama-Moschee" beträgt 450 Indische Rupien pro Person. Diejenigen, die die Moschee nicht betreten möchten, können dennoch einen Fotostopp von außen machen.
Zeit, sich auf die Labyrinthjagd zu begeben, und in das Labyrinth von Alt-Delhi einzutauchen, während wir beim Gehen historische Häuser entdecken, bekannt als Havelis aufgrund ihrer traditionellen historischen Gestaltung. Zahlreiche sich windende Gassen führen zu vielen belebten und beeindruckenden Märkten, die seit der Mogulzeit Geschäfte betreiben. Diese rätselhaften Viertel, getaucht in das Flair der Dämmerung, versprechen eine Entdeckungsreise durch die Jahrhunderte geflüsterter Geheimnisse.
Bald erreichen wir den „Gewürzmarkt", und beginnen unsere Gewürzspuren. Wir bahnen uns unseren Weg zu einem riesigen Lagerhaus, wo alle großen Gewürzhändler zusammenkommen, um Geschäfte mit den Gewürzgroßhändlern abzuschließen. Große Säcke mit Gewürzen werden zur Ausstellung halb geöffnet, wodurch Gewürze und Aromen die Luft um uns herum erfüllen. Bald betreten wir eines der berühmten alten Gewürzlager für eine Einführung in viele bekannte indische Gewürze. Sie werden überrascht sein zu erfahren, wie teuer Sie in Ihrem Heimatland für einige alltägliche Gewürze in Ihrer Küche bezahlen.
Danach kehren wir schließlich zur nächstgelegenen U-Bahn-Station/zum Uber-Treffpunkt zurück.
Hinweis: Es wird davon abgeraten, zu viele Fotos zu machen; die Tour findet unter echten Einheimischen, in ihren Vierteln, und bei ihren Geschäften statt. Ein paar Fotos zur Erinnerung sind in Ordnung, die Tour ist jedoch nicht für professionelle Fotografen gedacht.

We loved our walking tour with Jai. We saw a lot, tried some local masala chai which was lovely, he helped me buy some delicacies. We enjoyed the mosque, some temples and were able to have an experience of walking the old lanes and markets without feeling overwhelmed. He always took good care of us and shared a lot of interesting information. I will definitely get in touch with Jai again - he’s great!!

Everything about this tour was fantastic, Jai was the greatest local host, so knowledgeable, kind and really looked after everyone in the group. I got lost to start with and so he came to collect me from my location which I really appreciated. The walk was really varied and I learnt lots of interesting facts and insights and feel I got a very good perspective of life in Delhi. Jai really made the trip memorable and was a very good photographer and happy to take photos and videos for our group, he delivered the tour in such a warm, friendly way, I felt like I was walking around the city with friends, a true gentleman and local advocate. I was also happy that I didn't feel pressured to buy whilst shopping which I have felt on other excursions and this was much more about the enjoyment and experiencing the city for all of its wonder. Superb guiding through the small alleys in Old Delhi. Loved the spice market and the visit to the chili ”floor”. 🌶️ Our guide was really knowledgeable and made sure that we also got the opportunity to taste different teas in different occasions.
This tour is AMAZING!!! I highly recommend it. The guide is local and owns the tour company himself. He is kind, insightful, and knows all the back alley ways to get an off the beaten path experience. I have been traveling for 3 months and this was one of my favorite tours. Also, if you are interested in trying any street foods, mention it to him and you’ll stop at clean hygienic places along the way! :) perfect mix of food, history, and authentic sightseeing
Jai was great! Had a bit of a struggle to find each other at the start, but the tour was excellent! We did a comprehensive tour of Jama Masjid, Chandri Chowk and the tiny streets of old Delhi and then popped into the spice market, finishing with a rickshaw ride. I am really happy I did this “extra” tour - the larger multi-day tour I am officially part of didn’t cover nearly as much.
This was the 2nd tour I took with Jai, This was a private tour to a heritage house in the area. Great tour again, and I enjoyed seeing the restored buildings we visited. I highly recommend Jai as a tour guide. His English is good, and he is a flexible tour guide who does what he can to accommodate his guests.
Jai was super helpful and very knowledgeable. Delhi can be a bit chaotic so Jai's calm touring was well met.
Really insightful tour. Our guide took great care to understand what spots we were most interested in and helped customize the tour to us. He was very attentive of our group in the heat and chaos. He knows exactly where to take you in Old Delhi to help you get a mix of quiet streets while also seeing the bustle of the district. 100% recommend this if you’re visiting!

Great way to explore Old Delhi! Jai was wonderful and whisked us from spot to spot while providing interesting context. The spice market was a real highlight and boy was I sneezing. Really enjoyed this tour and especially appreciated the fact that he came to find us in the metro station when we got lost.
